no it wouldn't. lets say you have a picture swapchain with the size of 3 (your screen takes the latest picture and displays it). In mailbox mode the third picture will now be replaced if your program is faster than your display (result: your Program is as fast as it can be). In fifo mode your Program waits until slot 3 is empty again, so it is only as fast as your screen
