Upgraded CPU, monitor shows "no signal"

Yesterday I upgraded my processor from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 7 5700x3D and after putting the new CPU in monitor shows no signal. I've tried resetting the CMOS battery but to no avail, amd will buy a new one today after work to try again. Now the obvious solution from what i searched is to put the old cpu back and update the bios, however when i put the old cpu back in it only lights up the keyboard, no other signs of life. No pins from the processors or motherboard are damaged btw.

TL;DR: old processor shows no signs of life, new processor gets stuck in a boot loot that doesn't even let me enter the bios.

Any help is welcome

Hi,

Do you get any light error code on your motherboard or multiple beeps?

I've had a similar issue in the past, but strangely resolved it by having nothing plugged into the PC other than the power cable and the monitor to the GPU and then booting it.

See if the following works (I know you said that you already removed to CMOS battery)

1. unplug all cables from the PC other than power/monitor
2. turn off PSU - remove CMOS battery and leave for about 10-15min
3. reseat the CMOS battery
4. boot up (don't forget to turn on the PSU again)

That is what worked for me, hopefully, this does for you too.

Hi,

Some boards might have a flashback feature, have a look if yours is in the list. This will let you flash even without CPU.

Follow the instructions above, its a back to basics that can actually help a lot. Including removing the internal cabling from the PSU to the board.

Good Luck
