Undervolting gpu causes the fans to run Faster

Recently i noticed that having a manual undervolt  of - 0.1  (from 1.18 to 1.08) on the sapphire 5700xt pulse will cause the fans to spin faster always, even tough it nets a temp decrease of more than 8*C on the junction.

I dont change the fan settings at all , those stay at default.

When the voltage is set to default or auto undervolt (1.18 or 1.13) respectively , the fans will run slower even tough the operating temps are higher.

During a manual undervolt they will ramp up to 2200 rpm compared to 1700 rpm (max) at higher voltages.

Just out of curiosity i tried setting the fan curve once during manual undervolt to force it to not pass 1700 , but it did stick and it still rose to 2000 rpm.

this makes no sense ...

anybody had this issue?

im on a b550 5600x (liquid cooled) , 16gb

That sounds counterintuitive.

I sat voltages clocks and fan speeds with OverdriveNTool.

Are you doing it with Adrenalin or the AIB software?

I can get lower speeds with the ASUS Tweak tool, maybe try the MSI Afterburner?

i also lowered the boost clock a bit.

I'm having the same issue, only worse.  I did some undervolting and now my fans quickly crank up to 3500 rpm blatantly ignoring the fan tuning. And despite these adjustments, my card can still hit 90 celcius and the junction still hits 110 with Cyberpunk 2077 at mid or high settings.

use morepowertools to set a temp target instead of manually adjusting the fans.
