The problem with OpenGL on AMD Adrenalin driver 22.11.2 in the game Call of Duty (2003)

Hello!

Recently, after reinstalling the driver from version 22.4.2 to version 22.11.2 in the Call of Duty/Call of Duty United Offensive, a graphical bug with water appeared and the reflections disappeared on it. The game runs on OpenGL 1.3 and 2.0. Below I have provided screenshots using the previous driver and the new one. (Tested on RX 580 8GB graphics card.)

Driver version 22.4.2.

Driver version 22.11.2

On the AMD Adrenalin 22.11.2 driver, I noticed an error in the game logs, where there was a problem with loading shaders for water. Here is one example - WARNING: tcMod turbine 'textures/sfx/mp_ship_ocean' shaders are missing. But there was no such error in the AMD 22.4.2 driver.

I hope this problem will be fixed, thank you!

To get those water reflections, CoD (2003) game uses GL_ATI_fragment_shader extension.

With Adrenalin 22.7.1 (from July 2022) an entirely new version of OpenGL driver was released. Since then GL_ATI_fragment_shader extension is considered deprecated and there is no plan to add support of it back in a foreseeable future.

To conclude, water rendering is going to be "as is" in CoD (2003) game
