Hello, my GPU is RX 5600 XT. In some gaming sessions, like Cyberpunk 2077, where the GPU usage is around 95-100%, the overall temperature is around 75°, and the hotspot is 100°, with peaks up to 105°. Is the hotspot temperature acceptable or should I be worried? When I don't play, the temperature of both is almost the same, 52-57°. The GPU is not overclocked. I've been using it for about 3-4 years, and I only changed the thermal paste once.
All of AMD GPUs series 5000 and above has a Maximum Operating Temperature of 110c (Hotspot).
So if you GPU card is running at 105c it is within its engineered Maximum Operating Temperature of 110c.
Though it would be best to try and run the GPU card as cool as possible. I would make sure you have good Air flow inside your PC case and the GPU fans are running at maximum speed during those types of temperature.s
So I don't have to worry about changing the thermal pads (for now)
Only if you notice the hotspot reaches 110c and above. Then I would consider replacing the thermal paste unless it is under Warranty unless you have poor air circulation inside the PC or your GPU fans aren't working at well as it should.
If it is under Warranty I would first check to make sure your Warranty isn't voided by you changing the thermal paste on your GPU Card.
I would try and get more airflow through your case as well if possible and maybe adjust your fan curves.
The hotspot temperature of 100–105°C is on the high side, but it's not necessarily critical. AMD GPUs like the RX 5600 XT can handle temperatures up to 110°C, but prolonged exposure to high temperatures can impact longevity and performance. Since your main GPU temperature is 75°C, that's within normal range, but the hotspot temperature suggests there might be localized cooling issues, such as dust buildup or thermal paste degradation over time. If you're concerned, it might be worth reapplying thermal paste again, cleaning the cooler, or improving case airflow to help lower those hotspot temps. Keep an eye on it, but if the temps stay within safe limits (below 110°C), it should be okay for now.
