Hi All,
I've encountered a very odd issue with my Sapphire R9 390 Nitro GPU.
i had installed previous version of the Adrenaline Edition 18.3.1
(Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.3.1-March5)
all was well.
but now when i'm trying to install one of the 2 newer versions
which are 18.5.1 or the newest 18.7.1 after the installation gone half way, the screen turns black
and only once i delete the new version and reinstall again the older one 18.3.1 everything works perfectly good.
any suggestions how to fix this?
does the new versions not compatible with R9 390 gpu?
Thanks!
I have a 390, no problem with driver install.
What is your win10 build number and version, what method for install (e.g. manual, auto detect, min setup) ?
I have Windows 10 build 1803
and I've tried all the methods for installation.
Manual, Auto Detect, mini setup... all those methods for both newer versions of the drivers.
still nothing.
perhaps its the Windows build? which build you have?
I'm on 1709 pro.
Thanks for the post. I'm looking into this issue.
Please could you provide the essential INFORMATION REQUIRED WHEN POSTING A QUESTION ?
Please try one more time to reinstall 18.7.1 and this time once the screen goes black/installation freezes, please try disconnecting all of your USB devices, and let me know if the installation continues or remains stuck/frozen?
Hi,
Thanks for the respond, I will try this today after work and will update.
also if that won't work, I will try to reinstall Windows to build 1709.
and will update again.
Thanks
Please make sure you are using the latest build of Windows too, 17134, 1709 is the previous version.
I am using the latest 1803 (17134)v
I thought maybe its the reason.
so first I will try with the latest version, if that won't work.
Will try the previous windows version.
Thanks
Hi
So I've tried to install the 18.7.1 again with all USB disconnected except for mouse and keyboard.
still same black screen.
the issue is that the installation keep going, if i switch the HDMI connection from the GPU to the
onboard HDMI connection I see fine but then its not via the GPU.
so for now only 18.3.1 installed and works fine.
Any other suggestions?
Can you try disabling the onboard GPU in the BIOS, before you try installing the AMD drivers?
