Hello,
Details of my build are:
GPU: MSI RX 480 GAMING X
CPU: i5 7500Motherboard: MSI B250M MORTAR
RAM: Kingston 8GB DDR4 2400 MHz HyperX
PSU: ZALMAN ZM600-LE
Operating System & Version: Windows 10 64 bits
In certain games (Hitman 2 and Shadow of War for example), I get rhytmic fps drops or it simply bogs down and immediately picks up again. Every two seconds, it almost stops and skips ahead. This video is not mine, but it exactly looks like this: stuttering test 1 - YouTube
The thing is, when I reduce the power limit to -50, this issue gets fixed.
But when the power limit is anything above that, be it neutral or anywhere up to +50, the issue persists.
When this happens, I only have wattman, no other monitoring or tweaking program was ever installed.
So it's not a disturbance from those.
To check up on the clocks and other details, I've installed afterburner and inspected the logs when running Shadow of War benchmark.
When this happens, the core clock of the gpu and the gpu power dance around like crazy. Exactly within the same rhythm: power limit positive
This is when the power limit is set to -50: power limit -50
Both the cpu and the gpu temps are around 60-68 C throughout all tests.
Can this be caused by a poor PSU, or does it have something to do with the GPU itself?
Any help is appreciated.
