If you can supply us with your PC specs, then we will have a better chance of assisting you. Generally speaking, if your PC is powering off (and not blue screening) then I would suspect your PSU is not up to scratch, however without any info on your PC spec its nigh impossible to know.  So hit us with some specs! 🙂

Hi,

I would definitely look at replacing the PSU, an 850W PSU or better modular PSU. The 7090-XT can draw up too 320W depending on the vendor (Gigabyte, ASUS,ASrock, etc) and whether it is factory over-clocked.

As for the PSU, I have heard good things for Seasonic PSUs, though personally I have an ASUS ROG PSU, only because the shop was out of Seasonic PSUs at the time.

Just make sure that when connecting the three power cables, +if your PSU supports it, try and use 3 separate power leads from the PSU so the power rail is not overloaded which could cause the PSU to shut down.  If not, then you may have to use a Y cable where it breaks out the single cable into two connectors. Not ideal, but if it is a good quality PSU it should be able to handle it.

Best of luck

I had this exact issue. Had to upgrade my PSU. Originally I had an EVGA 650 WATT Gold 80+ that I had throughout my time with the 6800XT and 7900XT for years. Never had a problem. I assumed since the 9070XT seemed to pull the same wattage I would be ok. Nope after first few days of freezing/blackscreens/shutdowns after starting a game? That was it! Picked up a good quality 850 WATT PSU and not again since. Several hours of use and gaming across half a dozen games and not one crash.

I bought the be queit Pure Power M 12 850W model. Could not be happier.

Specs: 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30, 3 SSD's and XFX Quicksilver 9070XT.

Before forking out for a new PSU, perhaps try the suggestion from Taganyork, setting the graphics card PCI slot from Auto to POCIe Gen4 mode. There is bugger all difference and I have heard that PCIe5 does draw more power. No harm in trying and if it works then you have saved some money.
