ghost monitor on RX480 / windows reinstalling generic non-pnp on Sapphire Nitro RX480
Hello,
I have following specs:
CPU: Intel i5 6500
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte z-17- HD3 (F22f - latest available BIOS)
GPU 1: Sapphire Nitro+ RX480
GPU 2: integrated Intel 530 (disabled in BIOS)
RAM: Crucial 8 GB DDR4 2400
PSU: CoolerMaster MASTERWATT LITE 600W
PSU: SILVERSTONE 750W (Model number SST-ST75F-GS)
MONITOR 1: SAMSUNG S24F350
MONITOR 2: PHILIPS TV
Windows 10 (1909 and 2004) keep installing generic non-pnp monitor while in desktop. It happens randomly and without warning. I tried multiple drivers and tried different ports on my gpu but it keeps happening. Windows keeps adding 'ghost' generic non-pnp monitor. The issue started occurring somewhere around march and it keeps happening. When I remove ghost monitor sometimes it reappears again followed by flicker on both my monitor and my tv. Except for this issue, gpu works normally. I can game and watch movies. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you enabling the ability to monitor from your mobile device? If so that is why you get an extra pnp monitor installed

As far as I know, I haven't enabled such feature. Is there a way I could check that? I will have it a look. Thanks for the suggestion. I did get a new Samsung A20e smartphone around February but it never crossed my mind that could be the issue. Also, when news generic pnp-monitor starts showing up my refresh rate goes from original 60Hz to 59Hz and when I check 'ghost' monitor's resolution it shows 640x480 1Hz refresh rate. Thanks again, I will check it out. Also, I read somewhere on this forum that Adrenaline 2020 drivers could be the problem. I am currently using Adrenaline 19.9.3 and so far it has been three days without a issue. Thanks again.
