Flickering and black frozen screen

Hello

I am having issues with my 6800XT, problems started once I reinstalled windows in November. Issues are just as in title, first it starts with flickering on my display (black or colored rectangles) then it freezes so I have to reboot my system (sometime it happens that even though its on it won't turn on so I have to reset it multiple times) There is no rule for when it happens (just on desktop, watching videos, browsing web or gaming)

Things I already tried as I read many similar threads with many different solutions:

- DDU drivers and installed many diffrent ones (currently on 24.7.1)

- Reinstalled adrenaline like 20 times

- disabled replay in adrenaline

- disabled XMP

- turned off ULPC in afterburner and registry

- MPO disabled

- tried both Windows 10 and 11

-disabled AMD audio things in device menager

My current performance is set on 2065MHz (as it is listed as game mode on asrock website) and 1050mV - rest is on default.

Thing happened on my new and old display (no relation)

In a meanwhile I added 2nd pair of RAMs, however issue was going on before also.

Once I reset my PC I sometimes get "driver timeout" pop out but most of the time it does not.

I will once again state that this has started to happen once I reinstalled my windows (as I bought 2nd SSD and wanted to clear old one), however I cannot see a reason why as before I always had up to date drivers and did not care about OC or undervolting etc. The only weird thing I by accident ticked this setting in BIOS that enables open chasiss thing so I had to reset that by shorting motherboard. However this thing does not happen once I take out GPU, then I can use my PC without any issues.

I am so tired of this as I think many of you that have the same issue. I just hope that maybe someone fixed it and has a solution

Black or colored rectangles flashing sounds like that might be artifacting which usually indicates that the GPU is dying. Especially if you say it stops happening when GPU is removed. Does it happen often enough that you could grab a video or picture of it? Might help figuring out whether it really is artifacting or something else.

It happens randomly, however I might be able to record it. GPU is 1,5yrs old and those symptoms are consistent with what is happening to other users (hence multiple things I already tried from those posts). My next action would be trying more powerfull PSU and then try to send GPU as it still is under warranty

Well, recommended PSU for the card is 700W so your 750W should be plenty enough. But sure, if that's an option it might be worth trying.
There was a flickering issue with some older drivers, but that has been fixed since a couple years ago. At that point newer drivers had flickering issues and the latest driver that didn't have it was 22.2.1 so maybe try that one? Might be a longshot though since that specific flickering issue has been fixed for a couple years now.

Today I ordered a 1000W PSU (know it is overkill) in order to just check if my PSU is faulty as many ppl reported that there were issues with PSU or cables powering GPU.

However just now I noticed that I can make those stutters happen if I "shake" my case. As it happened randomly in a moment when I moved my desk so I tried testing and I can make those flickers happen by moving my GPU. It is connected, screwd in on AIO side and have this GPU "support thing so it won't hang. However when I move it I can initiate flickers and finally freeze. I have no idea why it took me this long to figure it out, is this fault of GPU or PCI-E slot in MOBO? I doubt that it would be fault of displayport cable connected to display as it is brand new and those were happening before the change.

Could be either thing, but I'd guess most likely the PCI-E slot in the motherboard since that part can sometimes get damaged and become "wobbly". Good thing you discovered it, knowing it's a hardware issue is a big step towards fixing it.

So the next step would be trying the same GPU in a different slot, if available. Either way you'll have to take the GPU out, check the slot and also check the GPU itself. Also, make sure to check the GPUs cooler if everything is attached well, could be a loose screw or some other similar situation.

Good luck!
