Deductible graphics not functional in Radeon HD8610G with Radeon R7 M260

Hello.

I have had this computer for about 4-5 years now. I have started to notice something wrong when playing games, which is any game that seems to use a relatively new version of DirectX doesn't seem to work. After some digging I found out that my computer has 2 graphics cards and that the Dedicated card (Radeon R7 M260) was not being used point blank. No matter what game, the system seems to be relying on the integrated card (Radeon 8610g) which cannot do all the heavy lifting by itself.

After trying to install the latest driver from HP and AMD (none working) I am now stuck and have nothing to do. I have seen many different threads with my computer with my same issue. None of them found an answer. I was wondering if I can change the primary graphics card in my PC so that the system mostly relies on the dedicated card, but apparently HP has locked the option to change the primary card. I really don't know what to do, this is making me lose faith in my HP PC.

Specs:

Processor: AMD A10 APU 5745m Quad core.

Integrated GPU: AMD Radeon 8610g

Dedicated GPU AMD Radeon R7 M260

RAM:8GB

Windows 10

64-bit. Any help is appreciated.

Your HP Laptop has a very outdated AMD APU processor. The last AMD drivers are from 2015 (WHQL) or 2016 (BETA): https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-series-processors/amd-a10-series-apu-for-laptops/a10-5745m-ra...

Those are the only AMD driver you can install in your HP Laptop that are compatible with both your APU IGPU and GPU card.

You can't install the newer last AMD driver from 2022 for the R7 M260 because it won't be compatible with your AMD APU IGPU.

If those are giving you problems then you need to update your HP Laptop to one that is supported by AMD.
