7900XTX not performing as expected

Hello everyone. I am typing this out, because I am at a loss for what to do, in terms of my performance out of my reference model 7900 XTX. When I bought the graphics card, it was from my local microcenter. I had replaced my 3070 with it, hoping to gain a lot of performance out of it, my computer specs are as followed: MSI Z590, 32GB corsair vengeance, 1TB Samsung evo 980, EVGA 850W gold rated psu, I7-12700K, Powercolor 7900XTX. I'm not usually one to play for frames, but It's a little disappointing to see the kind of performance I'm getting compared to a 3070. When I first bought the card, I would get around 100 frames on modern warfare 2 on medium to low settings at 1440p (my native resolution). When I looked into why I was getting such a low number, everyone said that it was just because of how new the card is, and to just wait it out, until amd could fine tune the drivers for it, but It's been a few months later, and my game performance has gone down. With all the settings on low, modern warfare 2 runs around 70 frames, with hard spikes into the 30s and 40s. For reference, my 3070 was able to pump out a consistent 100 frames on medium to high settings, I got rid of it because of the crashing issues people were having with Nvidia cards. I have tried updating my bios, reinstalling windows, updating my chipset drivers, reinstalling my graphics drivers, undervolting my gpu, overclocking the gpu, underclocking the gpu and using ddu to make sure all nvidia drivers were off my computer. I'm at a loss to what to do, because I see everyone else getting high into the 100s in frames on 4K on ultra settings, on mw2, and mine is not performing near that. I had an amd gpu before, a 6900xt, and it well outperforms any numbers on any games I've played on this gpu. My question is, is this a problem alot of people are having? Or is there anything I can do to get more out of this gpu? Is it just a driver problem? Any help would be appreciated, because, as much as I like the card, if I can't get this issue fixed, or amd doesn't fix the issue, I'm going to end up going back to team green.

My experience with a 7900xtx replacing a 3080 was that it did not improve performance anywhere near as much as benchmarks showed. That might have been due to my monitor. Enabling AMD enhanced sync was the only setting where it seemed to hit benchmark review performance. With RTX on, the 3080 was about even. The 7900xtx didn't work with freesync on my monitor, so my 3080 with gsync was 10x better.

I agree that it seems to under perform. I returned mine due to it constantly crashing with freesync enabled.

i really hope that amd addresses this. i dont know why it seems like everyone else is able to get amazing performance out of it. it really seems like my 6900xt outperformed it, and its about even, if not worse than my 3070
