New 7900xtx Sapphire Pulse, Running with a gigabyte aorus b550m itx mobo, ryzen 5800x and cooler master v850 Gold PSU.
On first install and first few runs, ran flawlessly. After a few uses my computer froze up while playing STALKER Anomaly, no keyboard response at all, power cycled manually and could not boot back into linux. Trying to boot into windows, it would work but was stuck on a low resolution (1024x??), no higher resolutions could be set. I tried installing drivers from Windows to test if it was just a linux issue, but the card could not be recognised by adrenaline software at any point. Disabling and re-enabling the card in device manager did not help, wiping and reinstalling adrenaline software did not help
After much troubleshooting, re-seating of the card and power cables, I thought I had narrowed the issue down to power delivery and salvaged a 3rd 6+2 pin cable from my old CM v650 PSU, so I have 3 cables from the 850 not using any daisy chains. I have the side of my case (NR200) off in case of any pressure on the cables making bad contacts.
The above had resolved the issue for some time, until the past few days where the issue reoccurred. I have fixed it today just by disconnecting power from my PC, holding the power button, and then restarting - 1 or 2 of these cycles appears to fix the issue (both for linux and windows).
Based on the above symptoms, should I proceed to RMA my GPU? Or is it possible that PSU issues will present as the card not being detected for drivers and point to a faulty new PSU?
