7800XT timeout/fail

Hey all,

I'm one of the many that seems to have issues with the 7800XT GPUs. I've had it since October 2023 now and initially I had virtually no issues that I can recall. However, ever since February, it seems the GPU would randomly crash or timeout whilst playing a random game. I thought it was maybe just tied to that game, however now it seems I'll boot up a random game, and the GPU will run for a short amount of time before it fails.

I would then have to wait and reboot multiple times. Sometimes, the GPU would reboot like nothing ever happened, other times it seemed like the driver was corrupted or self-deleted, so I would have to do a fresh uninstall and re-install a new version of the drivers.

When running the games, the GPU doesn't appear to even be working that hard or pushing high temperatures.

I've combed through multiple forums and the like, and things just don't seem to be working for me.

I've tried:

Using Adrenaline to limit the load and frequency limit of the GPU when playing certain games

Complete uninstall using DDU and driver-only install

Update BIOS

Change power plan via Windows

Eliminate background processes like Discord etc when going to play a game.

I'm getting to my wits end as it feels like its just luck of the draw whether I can play anything or not.

Specs:

GIGABYTE GAMING OC 7800XT 16G

ROG Strix X570-E Gaming Mobo

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor

G-Skill Trident Z Neo 32 Gb RAM

Corsair HX1000i PSU

I've also tried rolling back to previous drivers to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try disable freesync, disable anti-lag, disable MPO with MPOGPUFIX

download from here https://github.com/RedDot-3ND7355/MPO-GPU-FIX/releases,

when I overclock GDDR6 memory, these will cause crash, grey screen.

I disabled Freesync. This seemed to do the trick for me. Absolutely no timeouts or fails for days now.
