6900xt Direct X 12 black screen crash

Tons of bios and driver updates. All latest.

Different ram, different cpu, different power supply. Resizable bar on or off. Settings high or low.

Warzone black screen crashes and requires a hard reboot with white VGA led on Asus tuf x570 gaming motherboard.

It's not a system performance issue. I play new world and flight simulator 2020 on ultra settings (both dx11).

Warzone is the only dx12 game I play. I inserted the code to run it with dx11 and I've had no crashes in hours of play. Where before it was crashing at the menu screen or within first 2 games.

Any ideas on a solution for this?

I basically completely rebuilt a new system and still having this exact same issue.

Did more poking around and it looks like for some system combinations, 850w power supplies arent enough to handle the 6900xt power spikes without clipping out.

I have a 1000w on order that'll be going in tonight.

You need to be using a PSU such as the Corsair HX1200 or one that is more tolerant of the transient spikes. These voltage spikes can result in over 600w of power draw in a 20ms interval. It isn't just the wattage but the voltage spike which will cause lower wattage PSUs to activate OCP (over current protection).

The following GPUs require a PSU such as the Corsair HX1200 in order to handle the transient load: RX Vega 64, RTX 3090, RX 6900 XT,  RTX 3090 ti, RX 6950 XT, RTX 3080, and RX 6800 XT.

We will see how the RM1000X does. I think it'll be enough.

Still has the same problem on DX12 games after upgrading to 1000W PSU (ROG Strix).

Can anybody who experienced this problem confirm that it got fixed explicitly by upgrading to 1200W PSU?

Would be nice to have some confirmation before buying a new one.

Are you using two separate pcie cables from the psu (not pigtail/daisy chain).

Then it comes down to 3rd party software (asus ?).

New 1000w Corsair PSU...made it 2 minutes into warzone and black screened as usual. Frustrating.

Finally gave up and sent the GPU back to asus. It was defective and they replaced it.

What a tail chasing that was.
