I've owned my 6800XT since its launch, and it functioned without any major issues until two weeks ago. Recently, I acquired a new case and transferred my components into it. Initially, everything worked fine, but upon shutting down and restarting, the screen remained black, with no display output.
Attempting to troubleshoot, I discharged all power from the system, which allowed it to resume functioning. Concerned about turning off my PC without identifying the problem, I suspected a potential part issue. I removed one RAM stick to test if it was the cause, but the problem persisted. Unfortunately, I couldn't test other components fully.
Deciding to upgrade to the AM5 platform during Black Friday deals, I began installing Windows 11 Pro. The system posted, and I reached the Windows GUI for installation. However, when it attempted to enter the Windows environment, the screen went black, showing only post screens.
To proceed, I utilized the onboard GPU within my CPU for installation. After completing the installation, I tried installing GPU drivers, but upon resetting the PC and connecting the display port cables to the GPU, I encountered the black screen issue again. Reverting to the internal GPU, I found error 43 in the device manager for my 6800XT.
Suspecting a potential power supply or cable issue, I ordered new PSU cables, but the problem persisted when attempting to boot with the 6800XT. To further troubleshoot, I performed a fresh Windows 10 install, reaching the Windows environment with the basic driver. However, upon installing GPU drivers and resetting the PC, the screen stayed black.
Notably, I haven't overclocked or firmware-flashed my card; it remains stock. Testing other parts on my friend's PC confirmed that my old components are working fine. Yet, whenever I install 6800XT drivers, I encounter the black screen issue.
My new GPU installed without issues on the new hardware, but the old GPU still presents problems.
