RMA TICKET # : 8201032286 My first post was marked as spam, im not sure how this is spam, as i've posted pictures of everything. Hi, i purchased a new rx 6800 from amd, and upon putting it into my system everything was fine, however as soon as i started some heavy gaming my pc crashed, i restarted and turned the game back on and i hear a loud pop and my cards fan literally exploded and shot oil EVERYWHERE all over my motherboard case other fans and parts.
Hows the RMA process for this?I've emailed them 2 days ago and no response yet. if any of my other parts are fried and they determine the sealed fan bearing did pop will they replace what is fried? Honestly can't believe this thing passed quality control. I've checked my AIO, and other fans and nothing is leaking. I've also taken pictures of inside the fans of the gpu and you can see the same fried on dots under the fans. The gunk got all in the second pcie gpu slot any ideas on how i should get it out & clean everything? I've heard ISO+Qtips are good, but due to the pandemic i can't find anything but 50% iso which i feel has to much water.
Under that second m.2 slot it's covered as well.
Took the backplate off and you can see 2 fried on circles from when the thing poped.
Open a AMD Warranty Request online form from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/warranty-information/rma-form
Upload all the photos of the damaged GPU and other hardware when you apply for Warranty service plus the Official AMD Receipt.
I did submit an rma request however that was before i found it leaked everywhere and i don't see an option to add info/pics to a current one since they haven't gotten back to me, should i submit a new request with all the updated info or wait for them to get back to me?
wait to see if they respond. If they haven't responded by Friday of next week open a new Warranty Request with the current RMA ticket number.
Probably due to the Pandemic, AMD response is slow or delayed.
You can always post your RMA ticket number and see if one of the Moderators can check the status of the RMA Ticket otherwise you just need to wait for a response.
Awesome thanks for the help i added the ticket # on the first post, any idea on what to clean it with besides iso? I want to attempt to salvage stuff if i can.
IMO, I wouldn't touch the GPU card or disassemble anything on the GPU Card because AMD might void your warranty.
See if you can purchase 90% or higher Alcohol from a hardware store like Home Depot or a retailer like Walmart.
If oil got inside your PCIe slot I really have no idea how to clean that out.
I would suggest to open a ticket with your Motherboard Support but if they see what happened they will probably void your warranty if your Motherboard should show signs of being defective afterwards.
Also not sure if Fan lubricants is electrically conductive or not. You can ask AMD about that and also maybe how to clean your motherboard from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form
Also you can mention your RMA ticket and see if they can give you a status on it.
