So, I have just bought a Ryzen 9 9950X and and MSI X870E MPG Carbon WiFi motherboar, along with 96GB AMD EXPO DDR5 RAM and a few Gen4 and Gen5 NVMe drives. Needless to say, all this isn’t a cheap purchase.
i have spent 3 or 4 days deep in a headache trying to troubleshoot constant USB disconnects and Device Manager reporting Unknown USB Device errors. I have posted extensively in a thread on the MSI Forums about it where there are extensive screenshots and failed troubleshooting.
In trying to research and troubleshoot, I have come across the USB issues from circa 3 years ago on the B450 and X570 platforms. Having watched Kevin Muldoon’s YouTube videos on the issue, I now know that my issues are identical to this.
USB3.0 or newer protocols do not work and cause endless errors and issues, rendering the motherboard useless and unfit for purpose. Releasing things for sale for such a premium price tag when they literally do not work is wholly unacceptable!
I have done extensive troubleshooting, as you will be able to see in the above MSI Forum thread, and I am now virtually 100% sure it is the exact same USB issues from that needed the AGESA microcode fix from AMD and updated BIOS from manufacturers to fix! The latest beta BIOS from MSI include AGESA microcode 1.2.0.2 and this does not resolve the issue!
