i own three computers (two desktops one laptop)
5800X3D- 7800XT W11 Pro
5800X3D -6900XT W10 Home
7520U RDNA2 W11 Pro
All three devices get an old weird OEM like driver installed against my will and i can't do anything to stop Windows from overwriting the drivers.
i tried ShutUp10, wushowhide, rollback and it just goes back to this august 2023 driver with a heavily cut down radeon software that does not even have the option to update or even look for updates.
DDU, reboot, install latest driver, connect to the internet and boom... black screen and this weird driver again.
i tried on the laptop and my 7800XT a clean install and as soon as windows is up to date it starts to force this driver on my PC.
i can not even stop this driver with registry edits to prevent driver updates by windows.
my brother has the same issue with his PC (4790K, 5700XT)
never happened before until today (16.11 at exactly 00:01)
I also own an RX 7800 XT (x570 motherboard, 5800x CPU) and got the same issue as you. This made me freak out but I'm glad that I'm not the only one in this case. I restored the normal driver in the device manager and so far it hasn't switched back for me. I'm not sure why this is happening though.
mine switched back after rolling back over device manager after a reboot and maybe 20 minutes.
my PCs are literally unuseable.
A lot of people complain about AMD drivers, that they are bad and have issues.. i wonder how many of those issues are created by microsoft on their xcelent windows update... and yes i also had this kind of issues on windows 10 on a rx580 and also on windows 11 with a rx6800xt.
Still not fixed!
Use DDU to clear current drivers and while doing so choose "Block Windows Driver Update" option, should be at bottom.
Then make a clean install and hopefully it should be good
Here is a guide to stop this from happening in the future, here you go.
Here is a video that works.

Doing this, then using AMD Cleanup Utility or DDU, and reinstalling drivers from the AMD site will ensure your drivers are up to date and Windows broken drivers are gone.
Every AMD PC I have had to deal with this.
