Hello All!
I recently upgraded to a Gigabyte 7800XT (from an rx580.....) and I had no text cursor issues with my old card.
However on my new card, even after a fresh DDU driver installation I have a strange issue where my cursor goes invisible (on a white background) when hovering over any text field, in a chromium-based browser (Edge, Chrome).
The cursor goes back to black after a few seconds, but the issue re-appears upon opening a new tab. At first I thought it was my GPU/Driver, so I re-seated power cables and DDU'd but the issues remained. Everything else works flawlessly. I can see there is a bug report on the chromium help site and there is posts dating back to 2022. The fact I have this issues on a fresh build in 2024 is quite alarming and its a shame to see this bug persist.
Does anyone else notice this behavior? I can confirm it doesn't happen on Firefox, nor if you select a non-default cursor (the beam_r is a common "fix")/ disabling MPO in registry.
Once again:
Fresh DDU lastest driver
Full seated power cables, no other machine instability
Latest version of windows 11, fully updated, downloaded from USB tool
5700x3d/7800xt
This issue has been covered many times.
Here's one way to fix it

Right. Any comment from AMD acknowledging this issue? Does it happen with your 5700x/7900xt combo?
Thanks for the solution.
Yes it does, and that is how I resolved it - change the text select pointer image to use the reverse beam.
Alright. I think I will switch to firefox until either AMD or Microsoft manage to fix the issue. It's quite a strange issue. I am just really enjoying the performance upgrade from my 580!
Is there an official comment from AMD or Microsoft anywhere regarding this issue?
