hello dear AMD community
is there any AMD and 3 monitor set up pros here?
indeed, i struggle with my set up and can’t figure out how to properly make my 3 monitor set up to work.
i have :
- HD 6970 GPU (2 dvi, 1 hdmi, 2 mini DP)
-3 iiyama 24 ” monitors
-windows 10 64 bit
i plugged my monitors like that :
-main : hdmi
-2nd : dvi
-3rd a bit tricky : GPU->mini DP to DP adaptor->activ DP to DVI->monitor
the 2 first screens are well detected by windows and Ccc and works well.
the third is detected but remains grey in windows 10 display manager with a fix resolution of 640x480 and of course no desktop on it, my screen just remains black . it is detected also by ccc but i can’t do nothing with it. when i try eyefinity, i can only configure the 2 firsts.
on windows 10 device manager, the 2 firsts monitors appears to be « plug n play monitors » but the 3rd monitor (the one plugged on the DP) appears as « non plug n play monitor »
did someone have the same issue, and maybe fixed it? any suggestions?
To eliminate the cable setup to your 3rd DVI Monitor I would plug in a DP Monitor or TV set directly to your GPU DP Port and see if all three are recognized.
Also I would plug the 3rd Monitor directly into your GPU DVI port just to make sure it isn't a Monitor issue.
I would try and see if there is a Mini-DP >DVI-D Active Adapter and see if that helps better with the 3rd monitor.
The point I am making is to try and eliminate your 3 cable connection to your DVI Monitor. Since the other two works fine plugged directly into your GPU ports using native HDMI and DVI cables without any adapters.
- i’ll try to find some matériel that support DP like a tv or something just to make sure my dp on GPU works fine. thank for the tip
-i tested the 3rd monitor and it works fine (i plugged it alone with dvi cable)
-yes i will buy a mini DP to dvi adapter to see if it helps. my guess is that 3 cables is too risky for this kind of build
indeed i think my DP connection is too tricky to my GPU
thanks for the reply
I remember years ago i tried an active adaptor and it didn't work...
Just a blank screen, the same as you..
Think you will have to go direct to the monitor..
do you mean that i will have to buy a monitor with DP option?
If you have already used the 2 x HDMI then probably..
