Space Marine 2 Artifact Bug

his weird artifact bug was introduced sometime around the 4.5 update I believe, it was not there at launch. I have no issue with any other games or any stability problems. I have seen other posts with similar visual bugs for AMD GPUs on Reddit. I tried to report it on Focus entertainment forums but I am unable to make a thread for whatever reason.

There is a poster that has a similar issue: https://community.focus-entmt.com/focus-entertainment/space-marine-2/bugs/4345-artifacting-graphic-b...

For me this issue shows up in the launch menu and armour customisation menu for a split second.

+1 to this issue.

Got the game for Christmas. First load, and exactly the same symptoms as above and in the link provided.

CPU - 7950x

GPU - AMD Original 7900XTX

Mother Board - Asus X670E Crosshair Hero

RAM - DDR6000 Kingston Fury

Yeah it's annoying, but it should be able to get fixed by AMD or Sabre. If you haven't done so already, please report it via the Adrenalin Software bug report tool.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with the issue. Hopefully AMD or Sabre fix it. I feel like it might be related to Adrenalin Software but I am not sure.

Just an observation with my experience:

I noticed that the issue only randomly occurs for the first 5 minutes of gameplay then goes away. With HWinfo open, I also noticed this aligned with the VRAM usage reaching 100%. Once it hit full usage the issue stopped.

Might it be something to do with the game engine failing to load texture elements in time during render? But once all the main items are all present in VRAM the issue stops or isn't noticeable anymore?

Anyone else also observed this?

I believe so but am not 100% sure.

Btw did you install the 4K Texture pack? I had the texture pack installed, I believe it was around the 4.5 patch release.

No I don't have the pack installed or I didn't think I did. I looked on steam, found it and clicked download. It just launched the game straight away and now it's tagged as in my library. Probably already installed.

Okay Update:

After clicking the 4k DLC, the flickers happens regardless of how long I'm playing. I uninstalled the game, unticked the DLC in steam properties and reinstalled, now it's back to only happening in the first 5mins or so.

There's no quality difference as far as I can see with the pack installed or not when running at all ultra settings at 4k anyways. So not sure what this DLC does.

It's the 4K texture pack, it's supposed to improve the textures but I couldn't notice that big of a difference. I play on 1440p, I think game looks good with the regular textures anyway. Only the 7900XTX from AMD and the 4090 from Nvidia can really run it as it eats more than 20GB of VRAM.

Agreed.

I think it must be something to do with the 4k pack or the way the game engine deals with large textures that need to shuffle in or out of VRAM.

Interesting for me running it in 4k without the DLC it looks no different with or without the pack. Only that the flicker happens consistently with it installed and only for the first 5mins or so without.
