PC Drivers & Software

Screen Goes Black And Comes Back With Games Being Unresponsive But Still Running With No Display

PC Specs

i5 2400

Powercolor Red Dragon 4 GB RX 470 OC

Thermaltake 430W PSU

8 GB DDR3 RAM

500 GB HDD

Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

Radeon Adrenalin 19.5.2

Hi I am experiencing a problem that is rather similar for other people using Radeon Adrenalin drivers and RX 470 4 GB. The thing is whenever I start playing games like CS:GO or PUBG after a while like 10-20 minutes in the game my screen freezes for a second then goes black but comes back after 5-10 seconds but the game I was playing isn't responding but the audio keeps playing from the game which results in me being forced to close the game and open the game again which makes me lose my progress.

Things I've tested with no noticeable difference,

1) Clean Re-install drivers with DDU

2) Updating my Windows 10 and checking for corrupted files with sfc/scannow in CMD (no integrity violations were found)

3) Under Clock my GPU to the base frequency of 926 Mhz

4) Using 16.11.5 Driver

5) Cleaning my GPU fans

(I've run out of options please help me)

-reapply thermal paste, replace thermal pads if necessary.

-disable unused audio output in control panel-> sound.

-run islc in the background while gaming (especially on windows 10).

-check for any potential background services that could cause the problem (e.g. nahimic service, rtss).

-update adrenalin to the latest.

-undo overclocking of any kind.

-check for defective ram stick.

-check whether the psu is sufficient to power the graphics card.

-make sure the case has a good airflow.

Thanks for replying, I'll try this and let you know

I don't know if this the cause, but on powercolor website it states that 450w is the minimum power supply requirement. AXRX 470 4GBD5-3DHD/OC - PowerColor
