I'm facing an issue and have been troubleshooting it for quite a while with no success. I recently upgraded my GPU from a GT 210 to an RX 6600. Previously, I used two monitors without any issues. After the upgrade, I had to purchase a DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter because one of my monitors (the older one) only supports DVI and does not have HDMI or DisplayPort inputs.
The problem is that Windows is now unable to detect both monitors simultaneously. Here are some key points I’ve tested so far:
- The adapter and the monitor are functional because I tested them on another machine, and they work fine.
- They also appear to be "compatible" with my current setup because when I uninstall the GPU drivers and use the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter," the older monitor works again. However, the newer monitor doesn’t.
- When I reinstall or update the GPU drivers, the newer monitor starts working, but the older monitor stops displaying.
- This leads me to believe that either the older monitor isn’t fully compatible with the GPU or its drivers. I’ve also tried using older versions of the drivers, but the issue persists.
I’m at a loss because everything seems to work individually, but not together. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
