Radeon Software and Brightness issues with HP EliteBook 755 G4

I have bought an HP Elitebook 755 G4 that has AMD PRO A12-9800B R7, 12 COMPUTE CORES 4C+8G processor and AMD Radeon R7 graphics card. I have downloaded the Auto Detect drivers from AMD's Support Site and installed the software they recommended. When I go to launch AMD Radeon Software, I get an error stating that the AMD Display Driver could not be found or the it is not running. I go to my Device Manager and I see the AMD Radeon R7 under Displays, however, it does have a yellow exclamation point over it. When I open it up, it tells me that Windows had to stop it from running. I then have gone through Windows Update to see if there was any other updates and installed that update as well. No matter what I do, the Radeon software does not load and gives me the same error. I have even used the AMD Clean Utility and wipe everything, and it is still not working. I have even reinstalled Windows 11 and still no luck. I am to the point now where i just want to revert back to Windows 10 and see if that solves anything.

The biggest reason I am even wanting this to work, is because I can't adjust the brightness on this computer. The slider is there but is grayed out and can't adjust. I am so frustrated as I feel I have tried everthing and not sure where to go from here.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what did you do to fix it?

Radeon Software not loading:

  1. Try running AMD Radeon Software as an administrator.
  2. Try disabling any antivirus or firewall software that you are running.
  3. Try updating your BIOS to the latest version.
  4. Try installing a previous version of AMD Radeon Software.

Brightness control not working:

  1. Try updating your Intel graphics drivers.
  2. Try disabling and then re-enabling the AMD Radeon R7 graphics card in Device Manager.
  3. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the AMD Radeon R7 graphics card drivers.
  4. Try running the HP Support Assistant to scan for and install any missing or outdated drivers or software.
  5. If you have tried all of the above and the problem persists, you may need to contact HP Support for further assistance.

Here are some additional tips that may be helpful:

  • Try connecting an external monitor to your laptop.
  • If the brightness control works on the external monitor, then the problem is likely with the laptop's internal display.
  • Try booting your laptop into Safe Mode.
  • If the brightness control works in Safe Mode, then the problem is likely caused by a third-party software or driver conflict.
  • Try performing a system restore to a point before the problem started.

I hope this helps!
