R7 5800X vs R7 5700x3d

Hi guys! Good morning everyone.
Simple questions.
I found two CPUs brand new, the Ryzen 7 5800X and the Ryzen 7 5700x3d.
They are all about the same price, the 5800X is around 160€ and the 5700x3d is 171€.
I'm coming from an r5 3600 and I would like to stay on AM4 for the next 3/4 years.
Talking about pure specs, the 5800X seems to be better just because of his higher frequency. After that, in game and for all the multi core activities, the 5700x3d it's better (on gaming because of the 3d cahce implementation) and on muti core activities, I think they will be both there.
5800X is older than 5700x3d, and I can't decide which CPU should I buy.
The 5800x at the moment as at the lower price ever, even the 5700x3d.

If you use your PC mostly for gaming and casual use like browsing, youtube, maybe a bit of streaming, email and light office tasks I would recommend the 5700x3d. According to tom's hardware 13 game FPS performance geomean 2024 the 5700x3d is equal to AM5 R7 7700x for gaming. So unless you use your PC specifically for heavy productivity tasks there is no point going with the 5800x. 5700x3d will most likely enable you to skip AM5 entirely.

Browse the games you play the most, some games actually enjoy frequency but gaming overall the 5700X3D is a smashing hit.

Be sure to get a good cooler as X3D are more sensitive to temperatures, however, nothing to really worry about as long as you get a solid 280 AIO or a air cooler from a reputable brand.

You should be good to go with this CPU for maybe a couple of years.

Good luck

5700x3D, it's note even a debate. It will perform better in gaming. Not only it will be faster, it will be smoother (0.1% fps metrics).

The jump from a 3600 will be insane. Don't forget to put an undervolt (Curve Optimizer in PBO settings of you UEFI), it's free performance. You can start with -10mV then keep lowering further by 5mV until it crashes. It weeks time to find the right CO voltage.

You can also set a max temperature in PBO settings but it's optional.

My 5700x3D is running with -24mV (perfectly stable for months) and 70°C as the temperature ceiling (PBO limit).
