Polaris/Vega Windows 11 24H2 support

When will be release of new drivers for Polaris/Vega cards with Windows 11 24H2 support? For new cards driver released. Waiting for Polaris/Vega.

I know that Polaris/Vega have limited support, but I think that support of new version of Windows is important!

AMD seems to be rolling out legacy updates only when it’s necessary, as resources are diverted to RDNA. We may or may not see a new driver. If it’s critical I imagine AMD may take the time to do so.

But AMD oficcially not stopped Ploris/Vega support. And this cards are not legacy at this moment. They just have limited support as they said.

So, I think they must update drivers for 24H2.

The AMD Polaris and Vega graphics architectures are mature, stable and performant and don’t benefit as much from regular software tuning.  Going forward, AMD is providing critical updates for Polaris- and Vega-based products via a separate driver package, including important security and functionality updates as available.  The committed support is greater than for products AMD categorizes as legacy, and gamers can still enjoy their favorite games on Polaris and Vega-based products.

I'm agreed! But for new version of Windows it's need to update, isn't  it?

If support for Windows Preview Channel 24H2 release is important to you, it would behoove you to upgrade to a modern graphics solution that is not nearing end-of-life.

https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2024/05/22/releasing-windows-11-version-24h2-to-the-releas...

Adrenalin 24.6.1 is available now with support for 24H2 on all RDNA graphics generations.

Can't agree  with you. Polaris/Vega cards supports all that require OS such as 24H2 and have support of AMD at least limited, so they are not at end-of-life.

And when AMD added support for 24H2 for new cards, I waiting for adding this support for all supported cards.

24H2 is still in preview only. It's not due to release until late September.

Polaris/Vega have limited support because they are nearing end-of-life as stated. End-of-life does not mean no longer works, it means they will be considered legacy and no longer receive updates.

You're not right. Quote from AMD: "Going forward, AMD is providing critical updates for Polaris- and Vega-based products via a separate driver package, including important security and functionality updates as available.  The committed support is greater than for products AMD categorizes as legacy, and gamers can still enjoy their favorite games on Polaris and Vega-based products."

Read carefully. This means that this cards will receive important updates. There is no one word about full end of support. Until AMD not stopped support of this cards we will wait updates, especially for latest Windows versions.

And stop writing the same.

Microsoft gives already Windows 11 24H2 some OEM manufactures. And AMD released 24.7.1. for Polaris-Vega with 24H2 support. My only question is why 24.7.1 now at "previous drivers" page when on latest drivers now is old 24.3.1. drivers.

You're quoting the same verbiage I quoted back in June.

24H2 is still in Preview, it hasn't been officially released. You may consider it an "important" update because you're trying to use it, but does AMD consider it "critical"?

Have you tried the 24.7.1 version?

I'm quoting your post "5 hours ago". Just look. Your wrote about release 24H2 at September and your favorite "End of life...".

I'm using 24.7.1 driver and latest 24H2 stable update. All fine. But situation when 24.7.1 now in previous and 24.3.1 is current driver is strange, isn't?

As I posted below, 24.8.1 was initially released, then withdrawn.

When that occurred, 24.7.1 was moved to Previous Versions, but apparently not moved back.

24.3.1 is the older than 24.7.1 - isn't? For Polaris-Vega 24.8.1 not released. But now 24.3.1 - is latest. 24.7.1 - previous. It's abnormal.

Windows 11 24H2 support was added in 24.7.1 drivers released 2024/7/19. But today i cheked page with RX580 drivers and now current driver is 24.3.1 dated april 2024. Version 24.7.1 is on the previous drivers page.

What this mean?

It appears 24.7.1 was moved to Previous Drivers when 24.8.1 was initially made available, but then when 24.8.1 was withdrawn it wasn't moved back to current.

Check the product page for your graphics and go to Previous Drivers link, see if 24.7.1 is available for download there.

I can download 24.7.1 and I'm use it now. But I can't understand why 24.7.1 is previous, but 24.3.1 is current.

Two days ago 24.3.1 was in previous and 24.7.1 - current. How release of 24.8.1 for latest RDNA cards affects different driver for Polaris-Vega?

As I stated, 24.8.1 was initially released for Vega, then withdrawn.

When 24.8.1 released, 24.7.1 became previous.

24.8.1 withdrawn but 24.7.1 was not moved back to current, apparently in error.

That's what I'm talking about. AMD was make different branch for Polaris-Vega. And now happened some confusion with versions.

Fine, 24.7.1 version has disappeared from previos drivers. Now current is 24.3.1 and previous 24.1.1.

Where is 24.7.1 now?
