Monster Hunter Wilds beta driver time out with 7900xtx

I can't play more than a few minutes without getting a driver time out. The game will freeze then prompt a driver time out, I'll get a black screen, or the game will just crash to desktop every time it prompts a driver time out. Any help would be great as I get crashes in other games, but nothing like this as all other games I play never crash often.

I have a 7900xtx and a 7900X, all drivers and up to date and windows is as  well. I just did a fresh install of drivers using AMD clean up tool and DDU. My Bios are up to date as of a few days ago as well.

Desktop PC specs:

XFX MERCURY 310 7900XTX driver 24.10.1

Ryzen 7900X 12 Core

64gigs of DDR5 GSkill flare X5

1000W PSU MPG A1000G

B650 E-F gaming wifi MB Bios version 3056

1TBSSD and a second SSD with 2TB

Windows 11 version 23H2 for x64 (KB5045935)

I've found that my graphics card will boost past 3200mhz and cause AMD drivers time out. Usually this gets fixed for every game with driver updates and game updates and they stabilize after awhile and these crashes wont happen or at least in frequently (best examples I can think of are Baulders Gate 3 and Helldivers 2.) Basically I've used Adrenalin tuning to make my 7900xtx unable to boost past 3000mhz by setting the maximum limit to 2500mhz, power limit -10%, and Vram max frequency to 2600. It'll still boost to 2900mhz so I'm going to play around with this and see how high I can get it before the crashes come back. The graphical quality drops quiet a bit because my settings are so low, but my FPS is stable.

Try starting with these settings and if its stable with little or no crashes try going up. If you are getting crashes still try going even further down. This game is just a beta and with updates and a driver update you should be able to get much better performance on launch. This took me like a full day to figure out.

let me know if this helped you as I'd really like to know more about this issue, as this is just a work around so the game is playable and not much of a fix seeing as how you have to nerf your card to make it playable.

No, It's not same. My crashes only happen when I play games that have good graphics so it requires more load. The load doesn't have to be high it just needs to spike and I'll get a crash. I have no clue how to mitigate these crashes as I've tried every option in AMD adrenalin tuning that I could think of.

I have the same problem for MH Wilds Demo! 7800x3d, 7900xtx red devil. All drivers updated, windows updated. I get stuck on the loading screen or game will freeze, then just kick me out of the game. What's worst also is every time this happens I need to RESTART my PC because steam also gets glitched out or something. I cannot play the demo properly, it is lucky if I am able to finish a hunt.

I updated to include my PC build, but it's crazy that we can have this high end PC and it can't play monster hunter. I don't have to restart my PC, but if I don't the drivers will be all wonky until I do. I can make it into the game every time, but I can't finish the fight with the first monster so that's where I'm at.

**bleep**, unfortunate for us. I tried everything also, no dice. I hope this won't be the case come release of game. I resorted to playing on my Ally X and PS5, but after having experienced the frames on PC (even for a short while) I really can't get used to playing on PS5 anymore lol. I even tried updating Windows to 24H2 but to no avail

Ohhh, I will try this right now. Thank you! Keep you posted

Bro I have hunted 3 Dogashumas, 1 Rey Dau. No crashes so far! I set mine to 2700mhz, vram 2600, power limit still at +15. I will see if I can steady it at 2900 without issues.

Thanks a lot for sharing this man, at least we can enjoy the demo properly (fingers crossed)

That's great! Ill try your settings. I'm really glad we'll get to play this and any other games in the future that have similar issues.

Thanks a lot bro! We can enjoy the demo now lol. Set mine to 2900mhz, 2600 vram, power +15. No crashes so far, been able to complete multiple hunts. At least I am now aware of this 3200mhz issue lol.

AMD FSR3, Quality, High settings.

Yeah it works on my xbox as well but the down grade in graphics is just to huge. I'm reading that on PS5 its gonna struggle to do better than 30FPS without frame generation, so it'll probably look terrible on console vs PC. Hell Divers 2 had many issues and constant crashes not as bad, but still there was a lot of issues. They fixed their issues and now i don't really ever get crashes on it and it was the same for baulders gate 3. I'm hoping that by launch or within a few months updates and driver updates will fix any issues. There will probably be a driver update for monster hunter wilds on launch day.
