Hi there,
i try to enable mGPU in Adrenalin driver with a RX 6900 XT and my new RX 6950 XT. But after enabling nothing changes.
GPU-Z said crossfire is disabled but available. So i thought it is possible to enable it with two different types of GPU's.
Is there any way to overwrite the BIOS from the RX 6950 XT with an RX 6900 XT BIOS so that both gpus have the same BIOS to enable mGPU?
Or doesn't it runnning with this setup?
Not sure if you are aware of this AMD Guide to using and enabling mGPU: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh3-018
It should work since both GPUs are from the same family 69xx series.
Yeah i already read this, too! That's the reason why i mentoined the "same family" in the topic subject. I only thought there could be a trick by flashing the BIOS or so, but that should be to futuristic to be possible maybe. Ok i think there is no way to activate mGPU with different GPU's.
I am confused, the RX6900XT and RX6950XT are the same family of GPUs and the RX6950XT is almost identical to the RX6900XT except the RX6950XT is faster according to this TechPowerUp review of the RX6950XT: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-6950-xt-reference-design/
So if those two cards can work in mGPU it should work. But I couldn't find any details if the RX6900 series support mGPU or not. I imagine it should since the RX6800 series GPU card do support mGPU.
You can always open a AMD Support Ticket and asked them if those two GPU cards support mGPU technology or not from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form
Unless I misread or understood your original post because it seems like you are asking if your can use both RX6900 and RX6950 in mGPU configuration. They are not different family GPU cards.
No problem, i said thank you for your help...and your last post is very very interesting. Maybe i try refresh the BIOS and look if mGPU will work!

OK now i know it exactly. mGPU in combination with a RX 6900 XT and a RX 6950 XT doesn't work.
I could activate it but it doesn't work in games in the end. Only 1 GPU works.
The games must also support mGPU otherwise it won't work.
So even though you have M-GPU enabled but the game doesn't support it then it won't work.
EDIT: Found this article about M-GPU and some games that support it: https://graphicscardsadvisor.com/what-games-support-dx12-multi-gpu/
discussed earlier, GPU power is becoming so great that Ultra settings are no longer necessary for games even if you use dual GPUs. If you have more than one video card installed on your computer and you play a game that supports this system on Ultra, you’re likely leaving a lot more performance than if you had only one.
Yes i know. I try games that officially support mGPU like: Prey 2017, Battlefield 1 and 5 etc. But only one GPU is working.
Thanks for the update.
Try opening a AMD SUPPORT Ticket and verify that those two GPU card together works in M-GPU configuration in games from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form
to late...i am selling now my RX 6900 XT on the marketplace.
