I miss my Windows 7

Win 7 wasn't just the best operating system for me. I only installed it once and then it ran without any problems. With Windows 10 I already had to do new installations on 2 different computers. And Win 11 is probably not that special either, my CPU Threadripper 1900X is not in the list anyway.

Things move forward and with more threats online software has to evolve..

Windows 7 was an excellent OS, Win 10 better and so far Win 11 for me is faster and more responsive..

I have had all versions of Windows since 3.1 and have enjoyed every one in there own ways, I have enjoyed the sometimes hard work to get things up and running properly too..

AMD Ryzen 9 9900x, Asus Tuf Gaming RX 6700 XT, Asus Crosshair X870E Hero, 64gb Kingston DDR5 6000, Samsung 980pro 1tb NVME, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1tb NVME, DeepCool Mystique 360 AIO, Antec Titanium 1000w.

You can still use Windows 7. It is just not receiving security updates I think.

But from what I understand, Windows 8.1 has extended support until 10 January 2023 (which I think refers to security updates as well) and it was very similar in stability to Windows 7 from my experience.

The only problem is you miss DirectX12 and although Nvidia still supports graphics drivers for Windows 8.1, AMD dropped Radeon driver support at 17.7.1; which is ironically the last time DirectX9 Unreal Engine 3 games performed very well with low IPC CPUs and Radeon GPUs.

Some people have success using Windows 7 radeon drivers on Windows 8.1.

Kind regards
