Is there a list of GPUs that support HBCC?
I am getting a Fury card, because i got the impression HBCC only works on GPUs with HBM memory.
It would be really useful on that card since it only has 4GB of Vram.
I was surprised how well it worked on a Vega 64, even with DDR3 ram on a LGA 1366 platform.
Might want to save your money, the fury series is no longer supported with driver updates.
I know that it is no longer supported. But games still work fine on older GPUs. Only the APUs on FM2 give me trouble.
HBCC has been introduced in 2017, when the Fury was still supported. If it works with HBCC, it should be in the Legacy driver
HBCC is a vega only hardware feature, GCN3 doesn't support it or even have it. It was intoduced with vega.
HBCC is a hardware feature that only Vega has.
HBC is the feature the HBCC unlocks.
HBCC is the high bandwidth cache controler
HBC is high bandwidth cache
It's essentially a system that allows for more effective usage of VRAM by dynamically allocating system memory to serve as additional "VRAM" and only keeping what it actually needs at the time in actual VRAM. Technically you only will have the amount of VRAM the card comes with, but you can do things that would usually require more VRAM.
I have also noticed some slightly better performance in a new benchmark 3Dmark has on my system with it on
Specs:
System: Dell T7500 Workstation
CPU: Intel Xeon x5660 x2|
GPU: AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Eddition, HBCC 64GB, VRAM 16GB (might lower it down to a more reasonable amount later, as moving windows around is a bit slow rn, idk why)
RAM: 96GB DDR3 1333 ECC
C disc: Samsung SSD 870 QVO
Drivers: Pro 2024 Q1
I'm proabably gonna allocate the total HBCC to a smaller amount as this amount puts the total avalable graphics memory above my system memory
