Fullscreen does not work in games using the OpenGL API.

Games like Minecraft or Project Zomboid do not work in Borderless or Exclusive Fullscreen mode. I am forced to play the game in windowed mode, which is terrible.

The games crash, exhibit black screens, or simply don't show up on the screen, displaying the desktop. I am using the latest drivers (25.3.1) available at this time.

Rolling back the driver to version 24.3.1 fixes this issue, so something went wrong during the driver development for the OpenGL API from 2024 to now.

The issue is easily reproducible: just launch Minecraft or Project Zomboid (the games I have tested, but this most likely occurs in any OpenGL game) and try to set the game to Fullscreen, either Borderless or Exclusive.

My PC Specs are:

RX 6800 XT (Driver 25.3.1)
Ryzen 7 5700X3D
32 GB RAM CL 16 3600 MT/s
Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (Latest March 2025 updates)
B450M Asrock Steel Legend (Chipset Driver 7.2.13.148 | BIOS 10.31)
1TB NVMe SSD

I can provide any other information if needed, and I have already reported this issue using the AMD Bug Report tool. I would ask other users to do the same and, if encountering similar problems, to add them in the replies to this topic.

@santana1305 Can you tell me the monitor model, is it a TV with 3D mode or a monitor with overclocking turned on?

Hello, baozhlu!

First off, thank you for your reply! 🙂

Regarding your question, here is how my monitors are set up:

1080p 144Hz IPS Panel (Main monitor, DisplayPort)

1080p 75Hz IPS Panel (Secondary monitor, HDMI)

Both are running at their default refresh rates, and I haven’t changed or overclocked anything. They don’t have 3D support, and I’m not using a TV in this setup.

I’ve conducted some tests here, which include:

Setting both monitors to 60Hz and restarting the system

Unplugging the secondary monitor, setting the main monitor to 60Hz, and restarting the system

None of these solutions worked. I’d like to reiterate that this issue did not occur with previous drivers (e.g., 24.3.1). If you need any additional information, I’m happy to provide it.

Have a great day!
