Freeze / Crash with Brave and Discord (25.3.1)

Updated to 25.3.1 yesterday and ever since, if I have the Brave browser open in the background and I open up Discord, my PC will completely freeze or crash.

This does not happen with previous drivers, also tested with different browsers and did a memory test just to make sure.

Also, this seems to happen only when I have Twitch open, tried other website but it didn't happen. Maybe it can happen with Youtube but I don't want to destroy my PC.

Edit: It happened right now with both already open

Might have found the cause for this.

It happened to me again when I had Discord open and I opened up Bitwarden. It seems like both of them have Hardware Acceleration, disabled it for now.

Will update in the coming days.

So it's been 5 days and it hasn't happened to me since.

Solution: Disable hardware acceleration on everything until AMD fix their drivers.

Yes, I have the same problem. My screen froze and my computer shut down 3 times while Brave was open. Should I roll back the update?

This for sure does not happen with the previous WHQL driver, try rolling back or disabling hardware acceleration (just wrote about it - still testing)

After AMD and Windows updates, I got a blue screen error 3 times in a row. After uninstalling the Windows update, I stopped getting a blue screen, but when using Discord, Brave, YouTube, the screen suddenly freezes and the computer shuts down. I think the problem is due to the current driver, I'm not the only one who gets the same error.

I have similiar problems with this driver. Removed the previous driver with the clean up tool, but I got crashes in different intervals. Sometimes with discord open, something while working on a word doc(really annoying). Went back to 25.2.1

it wouldnt be surprising if its again hardware acceleration and amds god **bleep** buggy drivers not liking this tech for like what 10 years?

Good luck , this bug appears since like what ? 10 years randomly its allways hardware acceleration which crashes the drivers , amd just doesnt care to fix it permanently.

Yea bought a 6750 XT almost 2 years ago and It's a great GPU, too bad AMD's drivers keep **bleep**ing up the experience, hardware acceleration every time

Disabling HW acceleration on Discord had no effect on my system (R7 5800x and RX6650xt) I use the web version of discord for now. Hopefully it'll be fixed in de april drivers...

The latest AMD 25.3.1 drivers have big problems for the RX 7900XT. Typical AMD. Unfortunately, we can't rely on AMD. Desktop artifacts and flickering screens and fans that seem to turn on randomly. Incredible. After spending a lot of money on the video card. Only problems

yes 7900xt and crashes especially on cyberpunk mostly had to roll back to 25.2.1

I updated to driver version 25.3.1 yesterday. I am experiencing PC freezing issues. I also had Brave and Bitwarden open, I saw others have mentioned these two programs.

My GPU is 6700XT.

I have the same problem with my 6950 XT and driver version 25.3.1.

In addition, the computer crashes when I activate picture-in-picture playback on YouTube, for example.

Same issue here. While streaming VTOL VR though Discord two days ago, I had a full system shutdown. I did a bunch of testing, including several hours of OCCT and Furmark 2 at the same time, tons of benchmarking, and saw now performance or thermal issues. Today I decided to just do a clean install of Win 11 Pro, then later this afternoon I started a Discord stream, and my PC instantly shut down. Discord is causing some hard crashes with 23.5.1.

My System Specs: OS: CachyOS Linux, GIGABYTE X670 Aorus Elite AX, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, G.Skill DDR5 2x16GB DDR5 6000, Sapphire Nitro Plus 7800 XT 16GB, Arctic Freezer II 420MM AIO, Thermaltake Core P3 Case

I've had similar issues with my 5700 XT on 25.3.1 when having chrome open on one of my monitors (which is always). I suspect the cause is either hardware acceleration or windows overriding the adrenaline drivers. I'm not going to tempt fate to find out which is the true cause.

Specifically, I'll at some point have a sudden freeze, followed both monitors going black. This was then followed by a couple of minutes of intermittent sound bites from whatever video (if any) was playing at the time, and the backlights of my monitors turning on and off a few times before my system seemingly gives up trying to get my GPU going and my 9800X3D's iGPU takes over. Sometimes, but not always, I found that the 5700 XT got disabled in device manager after this. I've put the report through adrenaline's reporter every time, but frankly, I never figured it might be a hardware acceleration issue until a couple of days ago. I just described what I was doing at the time the issue occured.

I've since rolled back to 25.2.1 (though it autoupdated back to 25.3.1; very cool), disabled automatic windows side driver updates and turned off graphics acceleration in chrome. So far so good, but I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

25.3.2 notes specifically mention fixing windows overriding adrenaline drivers on the 9070 series cards, but I wonder if that fix helps the older cards as well? I didn't notice a mention about hardware acceleration issues in them.
