I have gotten this problem pop up several times on my new laptop with AMD integrated graphics + Nvidia discrete graphics. I have also got the computer back in working order every time, but it is annoying that it keeps coming back.
From my experience I get the problem after restarting after some "bigger" Windows update has been installed. Can't be 100% sure that is the cause, but it is my best bet.
I have fixed it by
- booting computer in safe mode
- uninstalling AMD drivers
- restart in "normal" mode
- install AMD drivers
The easiest way to get this done is for me to run the "AMD Cleanup Utility" (https://www.amd.com/ko/support/kb/faq/gpu-601) from "normal mode" desktop as it asks to reboot in safe mode and do that for you + run the cleanup utility when logged in when in "safe mode". After restarting normally just install AMD drivers again. I usually install the latest I find for my hardware at https://www.amd.com/en/support
I have used AMD graphics at home since 2012 and have never gotten this problem om my computers there - ever - so I suspect it has to do with interated graphics as I use discrete graphic cards at home.
