I bought my 7900 XTX near the end of january, installed the latest AMD driver at that time from the AMD website and was playing GoW 5 without a single hitch. A few weeks later Hogwarts Legacy launched and in order to fix the graphical white bush bug I updated the driver. It fixed the bug but ever since I updated the driver when playing GoW 5 the driver randomly crashes followed by the "Default Radeon WattMan settings have been Restored due to an unexpected system failure." message.
The crash could happen 5 minutes into playing the game, 30 minutes, 2 hours it all seems random. One time the driver crashed when I closed the game after playing without a problem for hours. I reverted back to the prior driver and suddenly it started crashing too while playing GoW 5. Now no matter what driver I use whenever I play Gow 5 it randomly crashes. I play GoW5 windowed in 2560x1408.
Drivers tested
- 22.11.2
- 22.12.1
- 22.12.2
- 23.1.1
- 23.2.1
- 23.2.2
- 23.3.1
All drivers were installed after a driver wipe using DDU. Other than that I updated the chipset driver to the latest available on the amd site and cleaned up the registry. The card is a 7900 XTX Red Devil and has only been used how it came out of the box. No undervolting/overclocking and I didnt mess with the powerlimits. I recently switched the bios from OC to silent and temps sit around the 70 degrees edge and 88 degrees hotspot at 38% fan speed. GoW 5 seems to be the only game that triggers a driver crash so I have no idea what is going on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
