Driver 24.12.1 steamvr jittering issue with Valve index

Issue on latest driver using Valve index.

After updating to driver 24.12.1 on rx7800xt sapphire plus, I get extreme jittering when looking around, making steamvr completely unusable. issue is resolved by rolling back drivers.

I'm experiencing the exact same behavior on a 7900XTX on 24.12.1 with Valve Index.

Frametime graph looks just like the one you posted.

Also resolved by rolling back to previous drivers.

Hope this gets sorted, they said this driver was supposed to fix the vsync_to_photons issue. Going back to the workaround with the SteamVR debug menu is not a big deal, just a little frustrating that the 'fix' was a regression in reality.

For what it's worth, that fix is a massive improvement for most people. Even with the vsync photon "fix" in SteamVR, the added latency is still there, and I find it really motion sickening. Rolling back would definitely be worse. I'm looking into this issue with some people from Valve, in order to get it fixed.

switching to 120hz mode fixed it for me, so that is a temporary solution.

Interesting note. I did try switching to different refresh rate settings with no change, but I can't recall if I tried 120hz or not.

I'll give it a try and report back if I was able to replicate the result or not.

Glad I'm not the only one, exact same issue on my end. 9800x3D and 7900xtx on Valve Index is unplayable with the jitters/stutters on newest drivers.

Drivers prior to 24.12.1 work fine for me though, hope whatever this is gets fixed.
