Can´t install GPU-Driver

Hey everyone,

i'm currently facing the issue, that i can´t install any AMD-GPU-Driver for my AMD-Radeon RX Vega 56. I´ve noticed strange flickering while gaming and restarted my PC, after that my resolution went down to default Resolution and i couldn't open Adrenalin any more. I tried to reinstall the GPU-Driver but it only worked for 5min and after another restart the resolution went back down again and the Device-Manager says that the GPU isnt working properly.

I´ve tried to reinstall the driver multiple times, without any success. Sometimes after finishing the installation, AMD says "the display driver has failed to load on your system". Also, when trying to open Adrenalin, it says that Windows Update may have replaced my driver.

Here´s what i´ve already tried:

  • Clean drivers with DDU and reinstall
  • Install via Autodetect-Setup and Manual
  • Update Driver with device-manager
  • Update Bios
  • Stop Windows Update from overwriting my driver:
    • general settings
    • Group-policy
    • Register
    • paused all Updates
  • reset Windows

My Setup:

  • CPU: Intel i5-3570K
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX Vega 56
  • RAM: 16GB
  • MB: ASUS P8P67 REV 3.1

Would appreciate some help!

the first thing I would do, if possible, is try installing the card in another system to rule out card failure.
another possibility is the power supply. if this started after you updated drivers, try previous drivers.
also, if you have another card, try installing it and see what happens.

Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunatly I´ve got no other System to test my Card. Is there any other way to detect an Hardware-Issue?

Could this problem may be related to my mainboard, because its pretty old (Last Bios-Update from 2012)?

i suppose pci e slot could be going but i doubt it. try another card in your system if you can.
also, try older drivers, the recent ones haven't been all that great, causing a lot of issues for some people.
but again, trying your card in another system is really the first thing i would do.
a friends, or a work/school system if possible.

I am having the exact same issue, except with a 5700XT.

Have followed all of the steps mentioned above.

"Clean drivers with DDU and reinstall

Install via Autodetect-Setup and Manual

Update Driver with device-manager

Update Bios

Stop Windows Update from overwriting my driver:

general settings

Group-policy

Register

paused all Updates

reset Windows"

Still get the same error messages. Failed to load and blaming windows message.

card failing, power supply failing, bad drivers. could be any of those, or something else.
start with the steps i gave Klipper to try.
