Can't enable Dolby Atmos via 7900 XTX

Hello,

I have a problem with enabling Dolby Atmos on my Radeon 7900 XTX.

I have SAMSUNG TV S95B, SAPPHIRE NITRO+ AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X 24G, and SAMSUNG soundbar HW-Q930B, all support Dolby Atmos.

I have the TV connected to HDMI on my GPU and when I go to spatial audio settings in Windows 11 I cannot enable Dolby Atmos for Home Theater, I get an error “Something went wrong while trying to turn on spatial sound”.
I have the Dolby Access app installed and I cannot configure Atmos as it says that I need to enable mentioned setting in Windows.

I have found some threads on forums so I'm not the only one. Things that I have tried:

1) Uninstall drivers /reinstall
2) Reset the TV to factory settings.
3) Reinstall the Dolby Access app.
4) Disable onboard audio in BIOS and uninstall Realtek drivers also with DDU
5) Connecting to another HDMI port

Before I had Nvidia 3080 as my GPU and Dolby Atmos was working OK, with no issues. The same setup, of course except for the GPU.
Tried everything that found on the internet, but nothing helps.

I have also reported that via AMD Bug Report Tool. (No idea how to raise a "normal" ticket to AMD).

Looking forward to any help.

Thank you.

I haven't noticed any issues yet. My TV doesn't support DTS/DTS:X but AC3, EAC3 and TrueHD all work. I read something about Nvidia GPUs having issues too which makes me wonder if Windows' audio implementation just sucks. Adrenaline 23.9.1 was the only driver release working out of the box.

Anyway, I'm so glad I'm able to use latest drivers for my old RX 580 as they have other fixes for Samsung TVs. That CRU fix was a nice find.

Hello everyone,

Registered just for this topic and wanted to ask everyone here is your issues resolved? (I hope so!)

I am looking forward to buying  an ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi 24GB, but considering my 7.2.4 Atmos setup I am a little worried if everything will work as supposed to.

I have almost build my new PC and the GPU remains the last part of the puzzle.

Thanks in advance to everyone that had spent a few minutes to reply.

Hello,

For me, yes. I am facing the noticeable delayed sound in most of the games, but it is the same as on Nvidia or PS5.

This concrete issue with enabling Dolby Atmos has been resolved, for me.

I've been issue free for a few months now.

I can't choose Dolby atmos for home theater on sound settings.

Also, Dolby access demo shows me 'No atmos'

But, TV says playing DD+

Samsung S90C TV, Samsung Q990B soundbar with Wi-Fi which is support Wireless Dolby atmos

And, Soundbar says Dolby Atmos

Win 11, 4650G, MSI A520M pro, No external GPU, Hdmi to Hdmi, radeon software 23.11.1

I also have RTX 3090 PC that can choose Dolby atmos for Home theater on Sound settings, then TV and Soundbar show same above pictures DD+, Dolby atmos.

Radeon has very odd representation of features not only atmos. ex) Freesync Premium Pro(even it's theirs)

It can play Dolby Atmos, but due to the 'No atmos' signal, Dolby Atmos contents may not provide Atmos audio.

I hope AMD solves this.

Even with the newest drivers my setup (Sapphire 7900 XTX, Samsung Ark TV, Samsung Qxxx soundbar) I cannot choose Dolby Atmos in Windows 11. I can fiddle with the settings and force it into Dolby Atmos but when I do Windows will not play any sound that is not Dolby Atmos so it’s basically useless. I don’t know why AMD cannot get this sorted because I can put my Nvidia RTX 2080 and my Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti in my rig and Dolby Atmos works right out of the box. My advice to anyone is to simply choose an Nvidia card if you really want plug and play Dolby Atmos.

Was this issue ever fixed, I have installed the latest AMD drivers, Audio, Windows and Dolby access but I do not have the option to enable dolby atmos for home theatre

I'm running into the same issue on Windows 11 Pro, 24H2. 9070xt plugged into LG oled c1 TV with hdmi 2.1 and surround sound is plugged into c1 tv eARC hdmi port. Surround sound works fine on my built in streaming services and my Xbox no issues. Only on my pc with 9070xt.

@Matt_AMD Can this issue be re-opened? I've tried the solved steps listed from above with CRU third party tool but no luck.

Hi, did you set only LPCM from 5.1 to 7.1 and restarted the drivers? Is Atmos visible in OS's sound properties but does not stay selected? That's how it behaved long ago. I'm not sure if things have changed with newer hardware/drivers. Very very interesting that it is affecting newer GPUs too...

At one point previously when trying to add all 6 of the different audio formats to 7.1 I was able to get the Dolby Atmos for Home theater option to show in windows but not stay selected and when selected the audio test would not work.

When settings only LPCM to 7.1 I am still having no luck, this is after running the restart from cru app and restarting windows.

Hey @Matt_AMD is there any way we can get this issue re-opened as multiple people have been experiencing this issue again recently.
