Audio won't work when in games

Hi! So, I recently upgraded my graphics card to a Radeon RX 580 and installed the AMD drivers. Everything went well, and I'm overall pretty happy, however for some reason ever since I have upgraded my headphones have not worked properly.

At first, they wouldn't make any sound at all not even on the desktop. They made weird popping and buzzy sounds. Eventually, I uninstalled realtek and this seemed to fix the issue. However, when loading games, my headphones would start making a loud static for a varying amount of time, and then go mute again with the weird popping sounds. The only way to fix this is to restart the computer. The weird thing is that sometimes the audio "adjusts" to the game, and stops making static without stopping working, but this only lasts while I'm in that session. If I exit the game and re-open it I run the risk of my headphones blowing again.

I've reinstalled the AMD drivers and that did not seem to work. This problem persists with other headsets.
