Have you both tried downloading HP Supports own CHIPSET Driver for your laptops. That should include the USB 3.0 driver.
Went to AMD Download page and downloaded LAPTOP AMD CHIPSET for Ryzen and Athlon from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/socket-fp5-mobile/amd-ryzen-and-athlon-mobile-chipset
I used 7-Zip to unpack the AMD CHIPSET Package and read the Info.XML and it shows this CHIPSET Driver package has the latest AMD USB 3.0 Driver for Windows7 included:
You both can try by using Device Manager to manually extract and install the AMD USB 3.0 for Win.7 from the Laptop AMD CHIPSET package.
EDIT: Deleted the two links to HP USB 3.0 Driver downloads because they were very old plus I don't know how reputable those download sites are.
