Lets all post the crash bugs in this thread. I will break them down by game.
Further more I have reported several of these via the bug reporting tool. I have come to the conclusion that there are no consistent work arounds for these issues and must be addressed by AMD themselves. The issue lies in Direct X12 as certain games that run DX12 are having issues.
Across all games = Change resolution settings midgame = Crash
Kingdom Hearts FINAL MIX
Playing at a resolution above 720p results in a crash if you skip the cutscene before destiny Islands. If you put refresh rate on you will crash if you pause and unpause the game.
Kingdom Hearts Rechain of Memories
Playing at a resolution above 720p results in more crashes. Locking fps to 60 or 120 results in a crash if you try to battle any heartless on the map. If you try to save after exiting and entering a room you will usually crash.
Kingdom Hearts II FINAL MIX
Playing at a resolution above 720p can cause crashing more frequently. If you choose to watch cutscenes for your playthrough you will crash on the cutscene where Namine first meets Roxas, but you will also crash on the cutscene where Kairi and Selphie are talking about Sora and Riku. I also crash when pausing and unpausing at times. You will run into a crash simply by entering and exiting a train in Twilight Town.
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX
Playing at a resolution above 720p can cause crashing more frequently. The tutorial is liable to crash without putting refresh rate on. Without Refresh Rate on the game is a stuttery unplayable mess.
Send as many bug reports to AMD via the Bug Report Tool, it's high time these crashes were addressed! It us unacceptable how unstable this is on AMD Radeon RX7000 series GPUs.
What's the point of fixes if you ignore the other issues that are being reported?
Solved! Go to Solution.

The newest drivers fix the issues with AMD XT/XTX GPUs this includes the Asus Rog Ally and Asus Rog Ally X.
===Games fixed===
KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 REMIX
KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE
It is with great pleasure I can now mark a real solution.
Thank you AMD you delivered on your promise!
That's just not a fix
There are dozens of people reporting this for say, WoW in the WoW forums, all with different machines and different setups
The only thing in common between all of them? 7000 series AMD GPUs
The "fix"? To not use DX12.
It's just an AMD issue
Maybe for your system that works for some other reason, the problem here is the graphics card/drivers
your right we are cutting our cards in half performance this is not a solution .
and like before its crashing again
Can't do that with the Rog Ally.
I have faith that AMD will deliver on the goods though, and DirectX 12 games such as Kingdom Hearts HD and World of Warcraft may get the fix they deserve in a future driver update.
hope they do for you! but there is several posts from over a year ago about bf 2042 crashing still has not been fixed
I'm hoping so too, they just need to address the Direct X12 issues I think as a whole to unravel these crashes.
As they said it just might take time.
Rog ally user here. KH2 is crashing like hell. This is extremely frustrating cause i mainly purchased the ally to play kingdom hearts series in handheld
Rog Ally is not PC (i mean, it's PC, but... like Steam Deck)
So, i don't think there is a way to BIOS
Btw angry rant
HOW THE AMD AND SQ F#@!%$ THIS UP. Jesus F#!@ Chist.
You had ONE **bleep** job, and a problem that goes like HALF AN YEAR.
In the meantime I think I'll play my KH fix on the stand alone 1.5 and 2.5 collections.
30 fps, but perfectly functional.
Hope this does get fixed so I can enjoy the fluidness of the 60 fps gameplay in a crash free environment.
It seems a few people also eagerly await the news too.
Keep us updated if you can!
I've seen people talk about how it's Adrenaline at fault but it's just not the case with KH without without Adrenaline it crashes.
That's cute, Rechain of Memories crashed while it was idle.
Welp if I cant play it and leave it alone this game is by FAR the worst offender of crashes.
hi,
been having the exact same issues here, constant driver timeouts on all of the above games and have been sending error reports for a few months now.
AMD RYZEN 5 3600
RX 7700XT 12gb
16gb Ram
all chipsets and drivers are updated and this is the only game i struggle to be able to play. every other game from square I can run perfectly, but with KH1 and 2 remix collection just crashes. iv tried all methods in getting temporary fixes but even then i get 5 minutes in after a cutscene and my drivers timeout and im left hanging with black screen. been hoping for a fix in the last few driver updates since November but alas nothing.
hopefully someone does do something soon, as iv tried to temp fix it for so long now I cant even refund it :(.
kind regards
Did something happen to this problem already? Last reply seems to be 2 weeks ago. And I have also crashes in the game with my Radeon RX 7700 XT
Nothing yet. Stay tuned though.
There may be updates to this soon.
Your post further proves the issue is related to RX7000's.
I have exactly the same problems with my RX 7900 XT, impossible to play Kh1fm,kh2fm,khrechain without freezing in the middle of the game or cinematics.
Maybe in the upcoming months we will get something...
I have been closely following this issue aswell since I was really looking forward to playing but I crash consistently at the Clayton Cutscene when initiating the fight. Hope this gets resolved soon, since I am already waiting for over a year for this to get fixed.
There's now a report button on KH collection page on EPIC, one labelled faulty or broken. Iv done so. hopefully we hear back soon.
seems that another update not fixing the issue. 24.5.1 WoW fixes that people have been mentioning but no sign of Kingdom Hearts fixes in the patch notes.
you would think they would at least let us know something by now?
Yeah.... I know.
Still ill give them a little bit more time.
So,
I bought the whole franchise on EGS the other day, and I was excited to play it on PC.
Turns out the game crashes like crazy, and I feel like I wasted my money. Not on the games, though. Because the other guys don't seem to have a problem. But me and you that bought AMD products are doomed.
I wonder if they will ever release a drive update that corrects these crashes?
AMD RYZEN 7 5700X
AMD XFX RX 7800 XT
32 GB RAM
Its because those threads are called rx7000 series or 7000 series trust me it happens with older cards to and can be much worse then just driver timeouts as well, i have given up on playing world of warcraft 16+ months of issues i gave up afrer like 6 months of having issue and AMD ignoring it, they technically still ignoring it i had freezes but i could trick my system into producing a driver timeout, so i eventually figured out the issue was the GPU drivers not hardware issue especially when testing my hardware and other games, tested for weeks then months still test these days.
I just want to see an error with memory or cpu or something else and suddenly find easy fix but nope, i am still suffering.

Adding to the bumps...
Also, it's not a perfect world solution but I have been stable for about an hour now by setting the game to use the integrated GPU on my 7800x3d, allocating 4gb shared ram in the bios. You have to point ALL the executables to the IGPU. I have it on 1440p and I'm getting good frames. In 4k I was about 90is but it was dipping sub 60 sometimes so I kicked it to 1440p.
I know we shouldn't have to do this with GPUs that cost more than playstations (7900xtx here) but it's got me playing Kingdom hearts 1.5 final mix right now so I'll take it.
Bumping.
7000 XT/XTX cards are a joke.
The issues stem directly from DX12.
Want proof?
Kingdom Hearts 3 uses Dx11, it doesn't crash.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 uses Dx12, it crashes.
World of Warcraft crashes on Dx12, doesn't crash on Dx11.
(IF we could swap it to Dx11 our problems would be gone.)
But no we have to gamble on a company that clearly has really bad quality control and doesn't even ACKNOWLEDGE the problem as its once AGAIN not been listed on the KNOWN ISSUES page which angers me so much!
You have your clues.
Now fix it!
I know it isn't a perma fix, but have you tried a DX to Vulkan mod, if it's allowed and won't get you in trouble?
I didn't know that was an option.
Any info on how to try that?
If you mean DXVK it doesnt work.
Bought a OLED deck.
Currently in process of downloading kh collection. looking forward to actually being able to play the game I bought nearly a year ago. would be nice to play it on my desktop though. its a shame a company like AMD make cards that just dont work.
might have to go team green before the end of the year...
Kh collection has just been announced for steam in june. I hope that when it comes out and they crash, more people with 7000rx appear reporting the problem in the reviews and realize once again the reality of the problem.
That's the ideal world.
Nothing from AMD i guess.
Reporting in, I am updated to 24.5.1 and I am still seeing frequent crashes in KH2. Shame this is still an issue. RX 7800
There be hope with the steam versions...
This is due to this.
The fact this one uses DX11 and not the infamous DX12 it might just work....
But I'll bite the bullet and buy them to test it out first.
Please anyone on Rx7000's can you hold fire on buying the steam versions of Kingdom Hearts until I confirm they work?
Just remember, in steam version you can force change API on game with -dx11 parameter
Don't know if KH will work with this, but may be helpful when it's released
i tried to install it on steam deck, but ended up being convoluted and annoying to set up. so i gave up and ended up mass reporting my driver crashes to AMD
and yes please draxirch. I probably will end up buying it if it works.
and noted EvilAleron. Considering AMD cant do anything there might be hope for us 7000 series card holders.
I just want to hit heartless and nobodys with my fat key. is that too much to ask
I'll be buying them on Day 1 so I'll report back if it works or not on the Asus Rog Ally which by extension will test 7000 XT/XTX GPUs too.
Hopefully, the issue is resolved in the new releases of the games.
Here's to hoping!
I'll report back the moment I test them on June 13th!
