Hi,

I went to edit some stuff and Davinci resolve was crashing when importing any kind media (video/audio/image).

I asked the black magic support and sent them some info and after a few tries we narrowed it down to the GPU driver.

I'll attach all the info i sent to them here so it can get fixed in the future.

Ok so im currently having this issue. Resolve crashes not too long from opening and clicking to view a clip or to simply click through the tabs.

CPU: 7800X3D ( latest driver from AMD)

GPU: XFX 7900XTX (Previously PRO. Q2 Driver ) STILL CRASHED!!

Windows: 11 23H2 (Os build: 22631.4037)

At the time of writing this everything works for me but ill provide more details to my process.

All i did to get it to "work" was run the pc in safe mode and uninstall the amd driver and boom now i can use Resolve. I kid you not. I think windows installs "whatever" driver it needs automatically but to know exactly which one I dont know.

Now this brings forth a question. Can i use everything on my pc without the "AMD Adrenaline Drivers"? 
I dont know yet. 
I will test a few games and then edit if anything happens. 

Edit: It crashed after importing more footage. 

Furthermore, I have Downloaded all Adrenaline drivers from 24.6.1 to 23.12.1 and will test all to see which one works with Davinci.
I will edit and post my findings.

ALL ABOVE TESTS ARE DONE ON DAVINCI 18.6 (STABLE) as of 18th Aug, 2024

These are the results:

AMD Adrenaline 24.7.1 Result: Crashed Scrubbing time line
AMD Adrenaline 24.6.1 Result: After 20 seconds of clicking through tabs and i clicked play on the timeline and CRASH.
AMD Adrenaline 24.5.1 Result: Didn't even pass starting up XD
AMD Adrenaline 24.4.1 Result: Immediate Crash
AMD Adrenaline 24.3.1 Result: No crash ( Tried jacking about and nothing)
AMD Adrenaline 24.2.1 Result: Immediate Crash
AMD Adrenaline 24.1.1 Result: NO CRASH ( I tried jacking about and clicking and using about 20 effects and crap)
AMD Adrenaline 23.12.1 Result: Got to grade for a little bit then CRASH. ( i think this might be some memory leak idk)

That's a lot of testing holy... Thanks for the time you've put into this.

I have since also tested the 24.6.1 and it crashes aswell, the reason i didn't went deeper is because this takes a lot of time and i didn't want to lose the anti-lag 2 in cs2 which came with the 24.6.1 i think.

I hope you don't mind i'm going to put your results in the Blackmagic forums post i made beforehand.

Forgot to mention, i always DDU my drivers in safe mode, but then i have to get out of safe mode to install new ones, adrenalin doesn't work if i install it in safe mode for some reason even with safe mode with ethernet.
