Hi, recently I upgraded my cpu from ryzen 2600x to ryzen 3500x and i´m having issues with this upgrade.
Build:
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2060 ddr6 6GB
Power supply: Gigabyte GP-G750H 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro Rev. 1 (Latest bios upgrade)
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x
Ram: Corsair 3200Mhz 32Gb DDR4
M.2 SSD, etc...
All drivers updated (chipset, etc)
And works fine, but when I put the ryzen 3500X, pc even doesn´t start, only fans running and motherboard lighst from DRAM and CPU are blinkening. Even when i try to power off, it doesnt care... So I put again ryzen 2600x and work fine, what I missed up?
P.D: With the ryzen 3500x doesn't load the bios interface, no image.
Rare but possible, might be a dead CPU? Did you buy it new or second hand? @Fabikill999
Just tossing ideas since you say you have the latest BIOS and all drivers up to date.
Thanks for your response @GreatnessRD .
The cpu is from aliexpress(used), good condition and seller with reputation but yeah, its possible a dead cpu I guess..
I updated bios and drivers a month and a half ago(new sys win10 installation with my pc) but it seems that there is a new bios version... I have version f63a installed, there are two newer ones currently. I'll try with the new update but the version I have current is the third most recent, compatibility problem of my motherboard with 3rd generation should be solved...
@Fabikill999 Keep us posted. Praying the latest BIOS fixes your situation, but with it being from Ali Express... you just never know.
Hello to both of you 😀
Going from an AMD Ryzen 5 2600x to an AMD Ryzen 5 3500x should be "plug and play". I don't mean to sound funny or short with my response, but since they're from the same product line ("Matisse"/AMD Ryzen 5 Desktop processors) there should not be a need for updating the motherboard's BIOS as it supports both CPUs.
Did you visually check the pins of the CPU before installing it? Were any of them bent or missing? Was the processor scratched or looked damaged? Did you install the CPU correctly, making sure that it's inserted correctly?
@Sam_AMD I was just looking on the Gigabyte site and it list the 2600X as a Pinnacle Ridge and the 3500X as the Matisse. Would that likely require an updated BIOS? Perhaps it's just another one of those B450 chipset incapabilities.
Hi @Vynski
"Matisse" and "Pinnacle Ridge" are our codenames. I was referring to the Product Line. Check it out:

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X: https://www.amd.com/en/product/7671
I feel updating the BIOS may be sensible, but I would definitely check with the motherboard's manufacturer first.
Yeh.
I know I run X70 boards on most of my machines and never had a single issue when I upgrade from a 2700X to the 5600. When I use MSI and Live Update it shows a later BIOS version than mine but I'm skeptical because that is what bricked my board before. But I've always been a firm believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", and mine ain't broke.
Please try to clear your CMOS on the Motherboard when the new CPU is installed.
I had a similar proplem when i upgraded from my 5600X to a 5800X3D.
Loadind the default values did not fix it but clearing CMOS with the new CPU already installed DID fix it.
After clearing the CMOS you have to restore your BIOS settings again.
