The Ryzen Guys next build (HELP)

Hey everyone.   My name is Alec and I'm a Market Development Manager for the firm that represents AMD in Best Buy stores.  I've been building custom gaming rigs with the Geek Squad agents and we've had good success so far with the last 2 we've built.  The problem is that I really want to build a rig tailored to first person shooter games like COD and GOW and I need the perfect Ryzen CPU and Radeon CPU combination.  Keep in mind that any X3D chip is impossible to get but is obviously my first choice, but where we are, it's just a no-can-do for the time being.  The kicker is that I have to be able all parts from Best Buy.  We've been using a TUF Gaming x870 AM5 board but I'm open to suggestions on that as well.  Same for the 128MB ram and 4TB ssd.   Power will be 1000W and Corsair liquid cooler.   My case is a Hyte Y60.  Thank you all.  Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

Hey Alec, sounds like you’re on the right track with the gaming rigs! For a solid build tailored to FPS games like COD and GOW, here's a balanced suggestion:

  1. CPU: Since the X3D is out for now, I’d recommend going with the Ryzen 9 7900X or Ryzen 7 7800X3D if you can find it. The 7900X provides excellent multi-core performance for smooth gameplay, especially in demanding titles.

  2. GPU: Pair it with a Radeon RX 7900 XT or Radeon RX 6800 XT. These provide great performance for high-frame-rate gaming, perfect for FPS titles with ultra settings.

  3. Motherboard: The TUF Gaming X670E-PLUS AM5 is a great choice for future-proofing, but if you want a bit more flexibility, look into the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK for a solid, high-quality build.

  4. RAM: Stick with Corsair Vengeance DDR5 128GB—plenty of headroom, fast speeds, and stable performance.

  5. Storage: For the 4TB SSD, Samsung 980 Pro (PCIe Gen 4) is a great option that Best Buy should have in stock.

  6. Cooling & Power: Your Corsair 1000W PSU and Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix Liquid Cooler are perfect. Just make sure the cooler fits well in the Hyte Y60 case!

This setup will give you smooth, high-performance gaming without sacrificing any of the essential FPS experience!

Removing the X3D from the pool is kind of a bad start, but if its advertising you seek, high numbers are appealing, so a Ryzen 9 would be my second bet. Something along the lines with the 9950X.

Why the 16 vs 12 core, well, while CoD doesn't really seem to care about 6+6 CCD with a difference in fps, like 6 more for the 8+8 9950X, in some other games like cyberpunk it will indeed matter and the difference may be up to 15fps. But both are good picks.

Don't push the ram too much, 64gb will be enough. 2x32 so you won't burden the IMC and get faster memory and lower latency that matters most. Check the QVL from the board and make sure to get EXPO certified memory to avoid future issues.

As for the card, nothing better than the 7900XTX. You'll be having around 130/140fps solid at native 4K max settings on COD MW3 from what I've seen online.

Then its up to your taste about fans or bling bling.

Good Luck
