For those considering upgrade to 7900X

I am considering upgrading to 7900x, but I also game. 

Should I upgrade now or wait for 3D version? anyone in the same boat?

I'd say if I didn't literally just finish piecing my 5000 rig together, it'd 100% be building one... $300-600 for good ram alone is a big no thanks from me though

Right now, I need to make amends with my wallet after the RX6800.

But I believe my upgrade path will mostly be the 5800X3D as I need to change only the CPU.

But that's up to you, what CPU do you have?

I feel its that age old statement. If you can wait, wait. If you need it now, grab whichever CPU will work for you in your price to performance range. As always it entirely depends on what you're willing to spend because rest assured, those 3D chips gonna cost more than the stock 7000 CPUs. Good luck with whatever you decide, homie.
