What the error "HSAIL doesn't support OpenCL extension spir" means?

I am trying to use SPIR in Windows with the latest AMD Adrenalin 19.5.2, but since I upgraded to the latest version I'm getting this error in the call to clBuildProgramWithBinary

Error: HSAIL doesn't support OpenCL extension spir.
An invalid binary was detected.
Error: BRIG code generation failed.

However, clinfo still reports SPIR support:

The error you are getting because SPIR is no longer supported by the HSAIL compiler tool-chain which is used for 2nd generation GCN and newer devices.

Regarding the SPIR extension, it is a known issue. I agree that the extension should not be reported in this case. I already reported it to the concerned team but it still seems to be present there. I'll notify them again.

By the way, here is a related thread:  SPIR support in new drivers lost

Thanks.
