Hello folks. I thought I'd start a fresh post to give everyone an update on the rebuild of my PC gaming setup in my basement.
Progress so far: I just ordered 5 motherboards, 5 16GB memory kits, 5 Power supplies, 5 NVMe 1TB SSDs, 5 43" gaming desks, 5 matching cases, heatsinks, a Ryzen 5800X to pair with my AMD 6900XT. I'm hoping to get lucky and possibly get a bulk discount on monitors and GPUs, but we'll see. Our first LAN party with the new setup is October 22nd. I plan to livestream most of the event. I'm going to open up giveaways to the Red Team community, so everyone can have a chance to take part in the fun. One thing all of you could help me with is to join our Facebook gaming group (if you use Facebook). From there I'll post other ways to help out. This isn't sanctioned by AMD, nor am I asking for any monetary donations (AMD not responsible in any way for what happens outside the walls of this community). The simple fact is that the larger the group is, and the bigger the reach of my social media, the easier it is to get sponsors on board. So basically, help me to help you! Facebook link here = https://www.facebook.com/groups/1085972132004991 and I invite everyone to join and follow along. I'll post progress pics along the way.
First 5 desks and cases ordered. I took the advice of a couple of you and decided that the desks will face each other.
Too funny. I actually have that desk and tower.
The desks are a super good value I think. I paid $75 each. The cases too. I only paid $50 each and they are VERY nice for the price. I'll probably just leave the RGB at default. The cooling is decent too. The 3 bottom fans do a nice job of pulling in cool air and blowing it over the GPU and also up into the top/front of case.
This is too cool. I'm lowkey jealous. Can't wait to see the updates, haha.
The PC list is shaking up to be something like this. I'll put an * at the beginning of the line if I already have all the parts.
*1. Ryzen 5800X, Sapphire Toxic Limited Edition (H2O cooled) Radeon 6900XT, 32 GB of Corsair DDR4 3600, 1.5 TB of NVMe PCI-express 4.0, 750 watt Corsair psu
*2. Ryzen 5800X, AMD branded Radeon 6900XT (H2O cooled), 32 GB of Corsair DDR4 3600 RGB, 1 TB NVMe PCI-express 4.0, Corsair 850 watt psu
*3. Ryzen 5600, AMD branded Radeon 6800XT, 16 GB Corsair DDR4 3600, 1TB NVMe, EVGA 550 watt Gold psu
*4. Ryzen 5600G, MSI Radeon 6600, 16 GB Corsair DDR4 3600, 1 TB Crucial SSD, 550 watt Corsair 80+ gold psu
*5. Ryzen 5500, Radeon 5500XT, 16 GB Corsair DDR4 3600, 1 TB SSD, 550 watt EVGA psu
PCs 6-10 will have Ryzen 2600X processors, EVGA either 500 or 600 watt psus, 16 GB of Corsair DDR4 3600, Gigabye B450M DS3H motherboards, and 1 TB NVMe - graphics cards unknown at this point. I was hoping to find a manufacturer who would cut me a deal on a bulk purchase, but it seems unlikely at this point. Same with monitors. I reached out to a contact I have at AOC's parent company, and never heard back.
That will be a challenge to build so many machines and have them ready to go for your October 2022 LAN party event. I'm wondering where all the money is going to come from. Be sure to discuss this with your significant other!
Besides all that, it would be great to have a bunch of machines of similar performance capabilities available to the gamers that attend your LAN party. I have several levels of machines, even one is running an AMD FX 8000 series CPU at 5 GHz. But most of mine are now at the Ryzen level, including one with an 1800X CPU, a few with the 2600X CPUs and others have more recent 5000 series CPUs. I never buy the high-end video cards because they are just way too expensive. I have a few AMD 5700 XT cards, one AMD 6700XT and then several of the 580 video cards too.
I can build a system pretty quick and I have a couple other people to help. I sold my Mustang, so I’m fairly debt free. Leave the world a better place, right?
Some of the gear

I'm in the same shoes as you! Totally lowkey jealous over here.
Excited to watch the progress and ultimately your success with this exciting project!
I got the rest of everything I've ordered so far. Now to get to putting together desks and building PCs this weekend.
Go big or go home!
This is going to be an awesome LAN party once all your machines are online. What games are you thinking about playing? That's where I have issues, as I don't want to purchase multiple licenses for games.
Holy Mac & Cheese (it's what my 6-year-old son says!)
@red5 I am officially jealous! And like everyone else here, I can't wait to see it come to "life"! It's gonna be a great LAN!
Do keep everyone in the know!
Personally, I'd love to see pictures and most of all the stream, should you do it.
@bigiI have quite a few discs of older games that we use at LAN parties. Some we've put onto USB drives, or saved the installers to my NAS on the network. It's really easy for people to install them if they bring their own PC. Those games will all get installed onto my full-time PCs on the LAN.
Oh, and I had today off and spent some time with my wife....... and stopped by the Bawls HQ to pick up some drinks for the LAN party in October. (one good thing about living in Northeast Ohio is being close to the offices of Bawls)
@red5 - Were you the one that came up with the saying, "Go big or go home!"?
Howdy yall..
Nitro here..
Been working on a lot of stuff hope you are all happy with your upgrades.
Focused Energy + Xray to penetrate then Blow vitals is US...
I put together the first of my 5 desks tonight. It is much sturdier than I imagined. I mocked it up with the build I just finished using this old Alienware case. It's a monster. The cases that will go on these desks will be a bit smaller. There are some plastic accent pieces on the top of the desks that I'm considering painting a UV-reactive red color since I have black lights set up in the basement. (don't mind the dusty monitor and keyboard, I just pulled them out of my parts storage room)
I spent a good chunk of the day building systems. I have the 5 identical rigs complete. Windows loaded and updated. They're just waiting for graphics cards. I'm hoping prices continue to drop, since I don't really need them until October. Ryzen 5 2600X, 16 GB Corsair DDR4 3200, Gigabyte B450 mobos, EVGA 550 and 600 watt power supplies, 1 TB NVMe drives
You're out living the dream buddy!
I built my 2nd Ryzen 5800X-Radeon 6900XT system today. I'm still waiting on more price drops on GPUs, and some good sales on monitors. Overall, things are looking good for the Oct 22nd LAN party. Also upgraded my internet to 500MB/s down and 25 Mb/s up. Frontier is running fiber in my town, so sometime soon I should be able to get synchronous 1 gig internet.
I have all 5 desks built, and the 5 PCs that will go on them. They just need graphics cards and monitors. I like gaming under black lights, so I'm painting the plastic accent pieces that came with the desks a fluorescent orange. Might not be your cup of tea, but it's mine so I roll with it.
Where did you get the gaming desks from? They look solid. Are they specifically made for gaming?
I was just going to ask the same question, and I couldn't help but notice the colour choice 😉
@Key-Jlink here. Very nice for the money to be honest. Went together very easily.
@red5 but do they glow under blacklight?!>!!!
With enough neon or fluorescent paint anything will glow under black light LoL
@Sam_AMDI bought them from Newegg, and yes they are surprisingly solid. Very sturdy. Here is a link. https://www.newegg.com/p/2T4-01P9-00029?Item=9SIB9J8H2Y4982
I'm eye balling that R mousepad
This is awesome. I can't describe how cool this whole thread is.
Just a little update. I lined up all 5 desks in their most likely final locations. I also tested something out. I wanted to do something with the support posts, so I grabbed some neon orange duct tape to see how it would look under black light. Yeah, I love me some black light gaming. The desk with the computer set up is just a sample. That is one of the 5 PCs for those desks, but the monitors and peripherals will ultimately be different.
Great update @red5 ; it may be too soon, but have you thought about which games you're going to play? And will you have tournaments? (By the way, thanks for the info about the gaming desk!)
I'll probably start asking for game suggestions on my Facebook gaming group page. Then I'll make sure most of those are installed by Oct. 22nd. I'm not sure if we'll do normal tournaments. Something we've always done is 'last-man standing' types of events. I have some saved custom maps for the original Call of Duty, Far Cry, etc. and we'll do FFA deathmatch games and see who wins the most.
Going to check new update
Electrician came today and installed the new outlets. I won't have such a mess of extension cords compared to my old setup. Now I can start running power and ethernet to the first 5 gaming desks.
This is starting to look like a professional gaming den. The gamers might not leave!
A little update with the 5 identical rigs placed on the desks. Still waiting for GPU prices to drop to complete them. However, Windows 10 is loaded and they're ready to go after I get GPUs and monitors
You ready ... to see some **bleep** ... gonna make you cry..the good kind ... Enjoy i did for everyone ... NITRO out
Some magic in games , in real time with no something word .exe ..... on nothing!!!!!!!
Just ordered 5 of these monitors for the 5 identical gaming systems. - https://www.newegg.com/lg-24ml600m-b-24/p/N82E16824026021?Item=N82E16824026021
I also just won an auction for 5 identical XFX radeon 5600 XT graphics cards. I wasn't sure the price on the Radeon 6600 was ever going to reach the point where I thought the value matched the price, so I bought used. Yes they've been mined on, but I got them for under $150 each. Hopefully I'll have all of this by the weekend and I can get the systems finished.
Those monitors have a 75 Hz refresh rate. I guess they are a good match for the 5600 XT video card.
