Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share my recent and ongoing experience with home renovation and how it can be both exhausting and stressful. My wife and I decided to demolish our kitchen and replace the floors, and let me tell you, it has been quite a journey!
First off, the demolition process itself is a chaotic mess. Dust, debris, and constant noise is filling our home for what feels like forever. It is hard to navigate through the house, and we will soon have to temporarily relocate our cooking area to the dining room, which is far from ideal. Instant Pot meals on paper plates for a month, here we come!
Before and while we were demolishing the existing areas, we started the selection of materials and making decisions about the design. There were countless options for countertops, cabinets, and flooring, and making choices that satisfied my wife was no easy feat!😒 Endless discussions and compromises were made, and at times it felt like we would never reach a consensus.
Then comes the installation process. Coordinating with contractors, managing timelines, and dealing with unexpected issues are all part of the deal. It feels like a never-ending cycle of decision-making and problem-solving.
But let me tell you, friends, in the end, it will all be worth it. Seeing our old, outdated kitchen transformed into a beautiful, functional space will bring a sense of accomplishment and joy. I know the smile on my wife's face when she sees the final result will make it all worthwhile.
Moreover, the bonus the that I hope comes with the renovation will be extra game time! With a new kitchen and improved floors, my schedule will finally free up for few more of gaming sessions. And of course, I’m also looking forward to hosting an awesome LAN party soon. A fresh and inviting space makes all the difference when it comes to entertaining friends. It's a win-win situation!
So, to all of you embarking on a home renovation journey, brace yourselves for the challenges that lie ahead. It won't be easy, and there will be moments of frustration. But remember, in the end if all goes well it will bring you joy, satisfaction, and perhaps even some extra game time. Stay focused, communicate openly with your partner, and keep your eyes on the prize.
Hey everyone,
I can hardly contain my excitement, and I just had to share it with all of you! We are finally on the home stretch of our kitchen and floor renovation, and it's turning out even better than we imagined. The journey has been filled with ups and downs, but seeing it all come together is incredibly rewarding.
I've attached some progress pictures for you all to see the transformation. The new cabinets provide much-needed storage. As for the flooring, is great and easy to clean! Two kids a dog and cat I am very glad the carpet is gone!
I can now finally get back to gaming and hopefully throw in a few more streams, my brother and I are going to be doing a full play through of Baldur's Gate 3 once it comes out so stay tuned for that.
The Kitchen looks SO good!! Excited for y'all and your new home upgrades 🙂
I can't imagine doing this with little ones running around too... go y'all!!
Excited for your next playthrough 🙂
Looks great. With all that work behind you, what are you 'lessons learned' about having your kitchen renovated? We are considering that in a few years - we've had the same kitchen since moving into a new house back in 1991.
The kitchen looks fantastic, really love the backsplash you guys chose! Especially how it carries on into the wall besides the cabinets.
Next LAN party will be great!
Sounds like a wild ride with all the renovations, but the payoff always feels worth it once the dust settles (literally). When we worked on our kitchen and floors, the chaos was real—paper plates and microwave meals became our life for weeks.
One thing that helped keep things on track was making decisions about the details early on. It’s those little finishing touches, like skirting boards or trims, that really pull the look together in the end.
If you’re still tackling parts of the project, check out https://mdfskirtingworld.co.uk/ . We used them for some skirting and it made such a difference—clean lines, durable materials, and it tied everything together nicely.
Looks awesome man!
