Does anyone have any amazing food recipes to share.

I'm looking to expand my cooking knowledge and meal repertoire and step outside my box as far as the kitchen goes. I'd love it if the community could share some of their go-to meals or recipes so I can go make a mess in the kitchen! Thank you all in advance

Find Hen of the Woods, or Maitake mushrooms. Scramble some eggs together in a bowl. Cut the mushroom into bite sizes, these things get huge. Dip them in the egg then roll them in some crushed up saltines. Some people fry them in butter, but I use vegetable oil. Cook them until golden brown and enjoy. Save the left overs because if you get a whole Hen of the Woods, it can feed a single person for a while. There is a reason it is also called Sheep's Head. 

They are typically found at the base of dead hardwood trees, like oak, and cherry trees.

heres a recipe for lasagna thats been in my family for at least ten years. i typically use more cheese than the recipe calls for, and more beef because thats how i like it. but this recipe is an excellent baseline, and not hard to make imo.

I also love cooking and I maintain my strict diet because of some health issues. I was asked to maintain a low carb diet but the problem was the taste. I was so bored of my diet meals and now thanks to this lowcarb website I have discovered a lot of delicious dishes. You can check it out too and let me know how it goes!

If you're looking to expand your culinary skills, try making a Subway-style Italian BMT sandwich at home. It's easy and delicious!

Ingredients:

  • Italian sub roll
  • Salami, pepperoni, and ham
  • Provolone cheese
  • Lettuce, tomato, onions, bell peppers, olives, pickles

Instructions:

Here’s one that’s always a hit in my house—Creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken. It’s super easy and you can customize it based on what you like:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste
  • Optional: Spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor!

Instructions:

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan and cook the chicken until golden on both sides (about 5 minutes per side).
  3. Remove the chicken and set aside. In the same pan, add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

While fast food can offer some great inspiration, there's something special about making your own version at home. If you want to try something fun in the kitchen, I’d suggest making spicy shrimp tacos. I tried them a while back, and they were a hit! I’m also trying to learn more in the kitchen, so I get it! Here are two easy recipes to try

 

  • Lemon Chicken with Veggies: Just mix chicken and any veggies with lemon juice, garlic, and herbs (like rosemary or thyme). Put it in the oven until it looks golden and cooked. Super tasty!, cheddars also offer this recipe.

Sure! One easy favorite is creamy garlic parmesan chicken pan-sear chicken breasts, then simmer in a sauce made with garlic, heavy cream, parmesan, and spinach. Serve over pasta or rice. Super flavorful and comforting—definitely a go-to!

Home made Shrimp Scampi linguini (creamy or buttery style)

 

Basically I cook the linguini for about 12-15 minutes in salted boiling water until Al-dente or slightly soft.  While that is cooking I take a pan/pot and add a gallop or two of Margarine (healthier) or Butter (tastier).

 

After the linguini is cooked I remove it and pour it into a large bowl.

 

I cook the margarine until all the water has evaporated and is just the butter flavored oil left. turn off the heat and defrost  the amount of shrimp you will need for the amount of people who are going to eat. 

 

After defrosting and removing the shell, if applicable, I cut the shrimp into 3 bite sized pieces. Put it in a bowl and marinate the shrimp with Seasoned salt, Garlic and onion powder, Black Pepper, and Italian Seasoning. Mix it well so all the shrimp is well coated.

 

You can marinate it for about 10 - 20 minutes and then heat the Margarine oil and put the entire shrimp in the pan in medium high heat. Cook until the shrimp just turns pink constantly stirring for even cooking of all shrimp pieces. Remove the shrimp from the pan temporarily. The pan now has left over oil that has been seasoned by the shrimp marinade.  Add white wine (I use 3-4 dollar white wine bottle)  and concentrated Lemon juice. Cook it enough to reduce to about 1/2 of the amount from before. Add a can of evaporated milk or Sour cream on medium heat. Cook the entire shrimp sauce until it reaches the thickness that you desire. I usually cook it until it is the consistency of slightly thick cream which easily coats the pasta. Then add back the cooked shrimp to the sauce and cook for about a minute or so.

 

Remove from heat and add the entire sauce to the linguini and mix well.  Shrimp Scampi ala linguini is ready to eat.

 

NOTE: You can add some corn starch to the evaporated milk if you want for a thicker denser sauce. But not to much.

 

You can skip the Evaporated Milk/Sour Cream if you just want a buttery tasting Shrimp Scamp sauce. Here is where corn starch will be useful to thicken the butter sauce.

 

I really don't use measured amounts. I just go by tasting the mixture as I cook.  Especially the concentrated lemon juice. You can add a little at a time until you get the correct amount of lemon taste that you desire.  You also can add more seasoned salt or other spices to your taste.  Remember as you condense the sauce the flavors will become more enhanced.

 

Just took the regular Shrimp Scampi recipe and adopted it to my taste.
