What's with all the hate for RDNA3 on this sub?

The post comparing it to Bulldozer yesterday was kind of the tipping point, but the general vibe here is everyone thinks RDNA3 is **bleep**.... and I don't get it.

The 7900 XTX tends to outperform the RTX 4080 in raster performance, but tends to fall behind in RT performance.... overall, they trade blows depending on your needs, but the 7900 XTX can be regularly found for at least $200, if not $300+ cheaper than the RTX 4080. It's a much, much better value than the 4080.

Similarly, with the 7900 XT, it generally slightly outperforms the 4070 Ti, but can be found for up to $100 cheaper on average. Again, a better value than it's direct competitor.

It's like everyone just expected AMD to offer cards half the price as nVidia with the same performance, which was never an even remotely realistic expectation to have.

I do understand the concerns with power draw (which appear to be largely improved with recent driver updates), and the continued wait for FSR 3, but you would think AMD released the worst cards in existence going by the conversations floating around this sub.

What gives?

I don't 100% understand it either, taking into consideration that the 40 series also has a lot of bugs. Many people on YouTube have said that both AMD and Nvidia current generation cards have about the same amount of bugs with many games and applications. In my opinion that is just to be expected when you buy into the newest hardware.

Both the 6000 series and the 3000 series had bugs and are now running really well but it took over a year to smooth out most of the issues on both sides.

I find most of the people complaining are people that don't understand that the RX 7900 series is using cutting edge tech that is very difficult to write drivers for, as this MCM design is brand new. Many other GPUs contained multiple GPU dies but this specific tech is very new compared to something like the old multi chip designs that didn't really help performance a whole lot.

The only real issue I have seen repeatedly pop up is poor VR performance.

RDNA3 did NOT perform, to expectations, at all....   i dig my 7900xtx fine, but, the later series is actually better.

(out performs a 4080, sure, with more memory, cucda cores more silicone, die and using twice the power)

RDNA3 missed the mark,... even in their expectations. Big time. That said, i ordered my 3rd 7900xtx.

Per usual with amd, "waiting for drivers" is a thing.
